Situated in Table View, it's a key shopping hub for the Blouberg area, and the upgrades have definitely shifted its feel. Since the renovations, Bayside Mall feels noticeably more modern and spacious. The vibe is brighter and more contemporary, aiming for a more streamlined shopping experience. They've improved the shopper flow, making it easier to navigate, which is a welcome change, especially on busy weekends. There's a sense of a refreshed look and feel throughout the mall, trying to elevate it beyond just a purely functional shopping centre. The available shops have seen a bit of a shake-up. You'll still find your major anchors like Checkers Hyper, which has been revamped, and the addition of Shoprite at the other end creates a better balance. There's a good mix of national retailers covering fashion (like Truworths, Foschini, Mr Price), electronics, homeware, and services. You'll also find popular spots like Dis-Chem and Clicks. The food court has been upgraded with a more diverse selection of fast-food outlets and some casual dining options, including coffee shops like Starbucks (a recent addition that's quite popular). For entertainment, Ster-Kinekor remains a key attraction. While it might not have the high-end luxury brands of the V&A Waterfront or Canal Walk, it caters well to the everyday needs and preferences of the local community. Parking remains a significant drawcard. It's still free, which is a massive plus for Capetonians who are used to paying for parking at many other malls. There's ample parking available, although it can get busy during peak hours and weekends. The renovations aimed to improve access and egress points, which seems to have helped with the flow of traffic in and out of the parking areas. You’ll find both open-air and undercover parking options. Keep an eye out for designated parking for specific needs, like parents with prams. In terms of activities beyond shopping and movies, Bayside often hosts promotional events, pop-up stalls, and seasonal displays, particularly during holidays. Keep an eye out for posters and social media for any current happenings. Rollercade, an indoor roller-skating amusement park, is also located at Bayside, offering a unique activity for families and those looking for some fun. Overall, the renovations have given Bayside Mall a much-needed facelift, making it a more pleasant and convenient shopping destination for the residents of the Northern Suburbs. The free parking remains a huge perk, and the updated look and mix of shops cater well to the local market. It’s become more than just a quick stop for groceries; it’s evolving into a more comprehensive lifestyle centre...
Read moreVery bad experience. Went to clicks as my child was sick and needed to fill a prescription. We just came from another clicks that didn't have the stock to fill the prescription so my sick child was irritable already. On the way out went to pay for parking the machine made the usual processing noises and spat the card out. It didn't ask for any money. I checked the time on the ticket and it was just under an hour so I thought that maybe the case as the first hour is free. I struggled to get a sick child into the car. Had to pull out a bit because the person next to me parked too close. When we got to the exit the machine wouldn't accept the card. Asked for help they just said you need to pay at the pay station. I told them that if I do their machine upstairs is broken because it just gave me my card back when I tried to pay. With cars hooting behind me and a sick child crying in the car already miserable with the trip I had to try to turn to get back to another pay station. I got to the pay station now 10 minutes after the hour mark and paid the R8. I will not be going to this mall again as the staff are incompetent and unhelpful. As we were leaving we saw someone else also stuck at the exit trying to explain that the machine upstairs just returned their card. If the machine is broken why wasn't there an out of order sign on it? This lack of customer service is unforgivable and as a consumer I will be spending my...
Read moreMost confusing parking I've experienced in a long time. Like wow.. If you're into driving around in circles, this is your place. Mall is neat, tidy and a fair amount of stores. Didn't see much signage to indicate what is where, no info desk and no store directory.
Staff in stores are good to amazing.
Wimpy - Great staff, fast service and decent food.
Ackermans - No one on the floor to help. Cashier was friendly and explained the discount card and she even signed me up.
Jet - Again no floor assistants or sales people. You have to figure out all on your own if your size is all the way up in heaven where you can't reach. Only that far that you can try to read the labels. Pretty much gave up on the idea. Not exactly an organized store. One casher and several people visible walking behind the cashier area in what is probably the store room.
Clicks - A bunch of staff members on the floor, checking and restocking shelves. Super friendly and helpful. Cashing out - what a disconnect from the rest of the store feel. Cashier didn't seem interested that I was standing there, humming tunes to herself and ignoring me. Usually there is some form of small talk or acknowledgement that there are clients in front of them.. But apparently my cashier had...
