This is really 3 beaches in one. Two looked good for surfing and the one is great for kids and walking about. The water was warmer as the sandbars trapped it in shallower pools. Flanked by the mountain it also makes for a dramatic feel to the place. There was a lot of garbage on the one beach which was sad, but for the most part the beaches were clean. There is a watersports rental place as well as many restaurants and shops in the area. There is also a board walk that isn't super long but you can walk along it. Also if you are looking to park on the peninsula that separates two of the beaches good luck. It's a one road in/out situation, as well as people walking on it, and there is no light to direct traffic. I had a snack at the Starbucks at that corner and watched the chaos for a bit. It didn't look fun, but luckily no one was hurt.

Hamdeok is one of my favorite beaches in the world but it is seriously difficult to enjoy it in the summer months. Too Commercial. Someone who claims to have "rented the beach" and asks for money if you want to put up your own parasol. Jeju's beautiful beaches should be free for everyone to use as they wish and enjoy the beautiful nature. In the summer months it feels like a low budget tourist trap. Over aggressive lifeguards who don't let you go out more than waist deep in the water. Overall, it's too controlled. As mentioned, people should be allowed to enjoy jeju's stunning nature freely and without monetary limitations. I can't believe the government have "rented" the beach to a random guy who charges people money to use his parasols over the whole beach. Hopefully this changes and the beach can return to it's former glory. Pro tip: go in spring or fall when their are no lifeguards and parasol hustlers spoiling your day out.

So beautiful place with blue sea water. The thing about Hamdeok Beach is that if you arrive in the evening, you’re likely to think that there isn’t much of a beach.. or beaches in the area but that’s because the tide has come in and covered it up on the western end. Hamdeok has three small beaches that don’t get taken over by the tide in the evening and the two to the east are the most popular by far. If you come in on that end of Hamdeok, you’re likely to think it’s too busy and want to leave during high season. I’d tell you to keep walking west and you’ll like what you see though. If you want your own space, go as far west as you can. That’s just what we did and it was spectacular.

Hamdeok Beach is a gem nestled on the northern coast of Jeju Island. The pristine white sand and clear turquoise waters create a picturesque setting that's perfect for relaxation and rejuvenation. Whether you're lounging under the shade of a palm tree or taking a refreshing dip in the ocean, Hamdeok offers a tranquil escape from the bustling city life. The surrounding cafes and restaurants offer delicious local cuisine, making it a delightful spot to spend the day with family and friends. Don't miss the stunning sunsets – they are truly unforgettable. Hamdeok Beach is a must-visit for anyone exploring Jeju Island!

Clear water and calm waves. I like how there are parts of the ocean split by sand where you can play in with no waves. There are multiple areas where you can swim, I swam at the area closest to the hill where you can walk up. Restrooms nearby with water to wash feet. There are showers and lockers rooms but they were closed when I was there in the evening. Sunset was so pretty, many engagements photos taken here. Street performers at now. People selling thier crafts and many restaurants nearby. I was here in mid June and water was cold but I got use it it and became really nice with the sun setting on my back.

May be the best beach on Jeju. Subtropical beach with lots of food nearby. There are 3 main beaches and more water access points. At the main beach, the water is clear in the morning and clouds up throughout the day; the water is watched by half a dozen life guards on the main beach in the middle. You can rent a beach umbrella spot for around $30,000 so you can spend all day at the beach without burning. Rentals are available for various watersports, but they are expensive, like $50,000 an hour for a kayak. Around the beach are many restaurants, focused on black pork or seafood.
