Haevichi Hotel&Resort Jeju — Attraction in Seogwipo-si

It was our second stay at the hotel (not resort next door) and we’ve enjoyed both visits, but there are a few issues. It’s a solid 4 star hotel in my opinion - for 5 stars the service and amenities are not quite up to scratch. All the staff need briefing on Covid etiquette because the Korean media (like all problems) have managed to convince the Korean people it’s a foreign issue. Therefore, if you’re a foreigner, then you almost certainly have Covid seems to be the logic. Forget the fact it is an Asian born pandemic solved by western medicine and the fact any foreigner entering to hotel will have likely had many more PCR tests to be there than the average Korean! ||Like previous visitors I got told I have to wear a swim cap inside, but not outside in the pool area. It’s the same pool with the same filter system so it’s hard to understand why this rule is in place. It’s a very Asian rule - swimming pools around the world work fine without people wearing swim caps, but Korean hotels love rules. ||Having swam I got changed and went up to the gym. A staff member came and told me I can’t workout in the same clothes I swam in. I told him I got changed and offered him my dry tshirt to touch. He then said I need to go change into hotel provided clothes. I said I’m fine in my own. He then said I need to go tell reception I’m using the gym. I said I’ve already checked into the pool/gym. He then said I need to go check my temperature again. I said I’ve checked my temperature when I checked in and that I’m not going anywhere. He left. There is no way Korean guests are getting this amount of unwanted attention. The manager needs to brief his staff. ||For the price, the breakfast buffet needs work. The quality of sausage is poor - I know good sausage in Korea is hard to find but that’s what the 5th star is about. The bacon was undercooked. I asked for a poached egg as it’s always a great indicator of how good the hotel is - try it when you travel! The egg station staff didn’t know what a poached egg was so I showed them a photo. I was told “no”. Easy to do, but “no”. I suggest the restaurant manger has a morning devoted to eggs. Requests like that should be brought over to the table like in any other 5 star hotel.||I asked for an English Breakfast tea and was given a mug filled with hot milk and a tea bag plonked into it! See the photo! Ha - 5 star?! I sat down, but then thought I should show them. I asked for a pot of hot water. They didn’t have a pot except for one on display so I took that! I then asked for milk in a jug and a cup, saucer, teabag and teaspoon and put them all on a tray together. I told them that’s how you serve English Breakfast tea. ||We are the dinner buffet on our first visit and it was good but very expensive. If you fancy a homemade burger, ribs and a beer I recommend that you walk over the road to ‘Wave’ bar - delicious! ||Overall, the hotel is nice and so are most of the staff. We’ve enjoyed our stays here. I’m just not convinced it’s worth the money unless you’re rich...

My husband and I decided to honeymoon on Jeju. We specifically chose Haevichi because they have a pool and tennis court. Usually when you arrive to a five star hotel, the concierge informs you of all the wonderful amenities available to you. In this case, we were simply told what we “couldn’t do.” We would need to pay 10,000 won per person to use the pool- each time we decided to use it. Possibly by our own mistake, we booked a family room for two. We asked the concierge if we could book a smaller room instead (even offered to pay more). She passive aggressively told us to do it on our phone. It wasn’t possible obviously because it was too late to cancel.||||Our plan was to spend the entire weekend at the resort, enjoying the pool, restaurants and tennis. When we realized we’d be spending so much to use just the pool, we decided to book tennis. Upon arriving to the courts, we found a cloud of insects. The court was covered in bugs- thank god we were wearing our masks. Thankfully, the concierge refunded us for the racket and ball rental.||||Our room was very large, for a family, so the layout was strange. The bed was in a back room with no windows or tv. ||The room had no water bottles or coffee. Just two small towels. No toothbrushes (to save the environment... at this point it seemed like they were just cutting corners). ||||This is the first negative review I’ve ever written for a property. The property has hotel, resort and golf course.||As it is owned and operated by Hyundai Motor Group, both hardware and software are good. (Resort is with kitchen facilities and under renewal)||Especially, my experience for check-in process was wonderful and thanks to Mr. Juyoung Park for his top notch service who arranged all the schedules (separately for parents and children) even after check-out on the next day. ||Also thanks for complimentary upgrades to Ocean View Family Suite.||||Guest rooms: Superior, Ondol, Deluxe, Executive and Suite||Its Suite has nice ocean view, 2 bathrooms, spacious sleeping (2 Kings) and living area separately. ||It has balcony which is useful for relaxation while watching and hearing the ocean waves and also for drying the swimming suites.||It has nice indoor and outdoor pool (09:00 – 22:00) as well as fitness (06:30 – 22:00) and kids club (10:00 – 22:00)||I could have a chance to dine in SomMoRa for lunch buffet (12:00 – 14:30 at 65K KRW for adults and 36K for Children below 12) and it has panoramic ocean view and good values for the money after 20% discount for Haevichi members.||||Another advantage is Haevichi gold club (around 20 min. by car) which is also in good condition.||There is shuttle bus from Hotel to Haevichi CC and also to Airport.||But, it’s too bad that there aren’t many shuttle buses and we should use Taxi which with the fare of 20K KRW one way.||Otherwise, I find that the golf course is very nice and...
