This is a long one, but if you are considering making a decision about whether to stay, don’t hesitate, just book it! We’ve been here as family, on two occasions: once during Christmas in 2022 and the other recently in the last week of May 2024. My observations are put here as brief as possible 1. There is something special about the property. The location is great, that’s perhaps the biggest highlight. But, in addition there is feeling of warmth from the way ‘most’ staff attend to you. 2. The food and the price it is available, makes it a great deal. Don’t miss the buffets, if you are one for good spreads. 3. The rooms are super comfortable. They have been upgraded since our last visit. Though the sliding cupboard was a bit of a challenge, as I nearly jammed my fingers on a couple of occasions. Everything else was top notch. 4. This is a place for family. Don’t think twice if you have young ones or children accompanying you. We found the staff well trained in attending to the special needs of young children. Suggestions 1. I used the gym on both occasions, and this time, the gym was unmanned. There were times I had to ask for fresh towels and bottles of water. Further, there was a child playing in the gym, with the equipment. I reported this, for the safety concern of the child. A security guard walks in after about 10 minutes and the guy lamely tells the child not to play and that was it. He continued to surf on the elliptical trainer. In addition, extend the gym time to about 10 pm. 8 pm is unbelievably short. 2. I tried the shower at about 5:30 am as I had a meeting to get to early. But there was no water coming forth. I felt I was back in Bangalore. 3. Include a reward program, as I would definitely come back again and would be happy if my loyalty to the brand received some reward. 4. Swimming wear for everyone. There were people jumping in without proper gear. Such a waste of a really good pool. Special mention Arpita, at the gardenia, went out of her way to arrange a table for us, despite the place being packed on a busy Thursday night. We had a similar experience, when watching the FIFA 22 on the lawns, the staff went out of their way to arrange a table for us, despite being fully packed. Such a an amazing place I tell you. Wish you the best.

Degrading further after 2nd day experience. Property is quite basic when compared to other 5 star properties in and around Mysore. Would be better to stay in Radisson or ITC Fortune Palace. Rooms are spacious and that's the only plus point. Service is really bad and slow. Be it room service to get water bottles after asking 4 times and 2 hours delay, or be it restuarant service where soup is served after 25 min of order and main course after 45 min. My kid slept waiting for food. Both are pathetic. Food quality is inconsistent. First dinner was delayed but delicious. Had ordered murgh butter masala, lemon coriander soup and Lasooni palak corn. 2nd night dinner was horrible. There was no salt in any of the dishes be it same soup, curd rice, khichi or even Penne Pasta with chicken. Looks like chef forgot to add salt while boiling base ingredients like rice, pasta, tomatoes for soup etc. And above all this, audacity to ask for payment of this pasta which was returned thrice and finally got butter roti for my kid as replacement. 495 rs pasta dish was being compared with 2 butter chapatis worth 190 rs and was told by a staff that as the dish was replaced I have to pay for it. Morning breakfast has limited options for main course. Same puri with chole one day and sabji another day, same idlis, same sambhar, rice bath one day, tamarind rice the 2nd day. Plain uttapams 1st day and besan chilla next day. Sabudana khichdi one day, and sabudana kheer 2nd day. Hotel staff is completely rude and doesn't have the basic etiquettes. When I asked for 4 cups of tea, I was asked by the staff that he can see only 3 members on table and why 4th cup. In short can't give them another chance after these incidents and can't recommend them untill they address all of the above.

Once upon a time, this was one of the best hotels in Mysore. Now, probably still looks good, but perhaps the worst in customer service. There was some renovation work going on, and they still allocated rooms on that floor. It was a terrible experience like staying in a construction site, full day long drilling and grinding sounds, dust and smell all over the lobby, and even the AC blowers were stinking polish and paint smell. Kids fell sick. Upon complaining, they didn’t even bother to do something and was unapologetically rude saying they will ask to stop the work. Seriously! Is that the solution? Did we spent all the money and booked a so called premium hotel to stay in such a place. Customer service is zero. They don’t know how to serve a simple tea if you walk in to their restaurant. No proper cup and saucer, neither gives sugar packets or cutlery and serves a pathetic tasted tea in a plastic cup for ₹175 including all luxury taxes. Bar closes at sharp 10:30pm. The lights will be off and the doors will be closed immediately after that and they are in a hurry to send you out. Right from the check in, the restaurant service, the room service delays, cleanliness, the people who shows respect only to their selected guests, this hotel has lost its charm. Food is good, location is good. That’s it. There are better hotels offering better service around. Will never come back here.

In my recent stays at Southern Star Hotel in Mysore and had a mixed experience. While the overall quality of the hotel was commendable, a few aspects significantly impacted my stay. **Pros:** - **Rooms:** The rooms were well-maintained and equipped with all necessary amenities. Any minor issues were negligible and did not affect my comfort. - **Male Staff:** Most of the male staff were courteous and professional. A special mention goes to one of the supervisors who provided excellent service, making my stay more pleasant. **Cons:** - **Female Staff at Reception and Zest Restaurant:** The female employees at the reception and Zest restaurant displayed unfriendly and unhelpful attitudes. Their slow service and demeanor resembled that of employees in a government department, which detracted from the overall experience. - **Food Quality at Zest Restaurant:** Some fruits and eggs served at the Zest restaurant had a strange smell, which was off-putting. Overall, my stay was good except for the issues with the female staff's attitude. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and addressed promptly, rather than receiving a generic response. The fewer stars in my rating are solely due to the service provided by the female staff; otherwise, everything else about the hotel was great.

There is renovation happening, both inside the main restaurant, and outside. Check in was smooth and uneventful. We were given 410 on the 4th floor facing the pool and a view of the railway station. Room: The bed is super comfortable and the room is sufficiently spacious. The closet door is weirdly designed, where both doors can't be opened at once. The safe wasn't working and we were given a replacement. The room gets only 2 water bottles for free per day, and it's advisable to get housekeeping done daily due to the dust. The only renovation we could see was some painting around the room and changing the electric panels. The bathroom was clean, but there was a bad smell from the drain under the sink. It either went away in 1 day, or we got used to it. Doesn't look like there was much/any work done on the washrooms. Due to the renovation, the breakfast area was packed, and incurred some delays if getting dosas. Lunch here is great for ala carte, but quite pricey for a buffet at 1060 Rs. per person. Stay was nice, overall, and great if you're here for fun. The internet isn't fast, so if you're working, good luck.

Dear Southern Star Hotel team, I recently had the pleasure of staying at your hotel and I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for the wonderful experience I had. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the hotel. The staff members were all incredibly friendly and accommodating, always going above and beyond to make sure that my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The room was beautifully appointed and very clean, and I appreciated the little touches like the complimentary bottled water and the toiletries in the bathroom. The facilities at the hotel were top-notch, with a fantastic gym and pool area that I made full use of during my stay. The restaurant was also excellent, with a delicious menu and attentive service. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better experience at Southern Star Hotel. Your team truly goes above and beyond to make your guests feel at home, and I look forward to the opportunity to stay with you again in the future. Thank you for an unforgettable stay. Best regards,
Krishna Kiran
