I recently visited "The Indian Curry House," and my experience was absolutely awful. From the moment we walked in, the service was a disaster. We were asked if we wanted normal or bottled water, and we opted for normal. My mom requested hot water for her medicine, but the waiter showed a complete lack of common sense by pouring hot water into the same glass that already had cold water. We had to ask again to get a new glass, and the staff seemed unfriendly and downright rude.
We ordered a broccoli soup, which was tasty, but that’s where the positives end. We then ordered the dahi kabab, which came with only six small pieces, not worth the Rs. 329 price tag at all. The menu stated that the kabab would be served with mint chutney, but it was missing when our dish arrived. After asking, they brought out a small saucer with separate cups of ketchup and mint chutney. If they’re going to serve it separately, they shouldn’t mention it in the menu in a misleading way.
When it came time to order our main course, we wanted a rice dish without garlic and with a bit of spice. After inquiring about their biryani options, we were told the Matka Biryani couldn’t be customized, and the Tehri wouldn’t be spicy enough. We opted for the Potli Biryani, which they assured us could be made spicy and without garlic. What we received was an outrageously spicy dish overloaded with red chili powder and green chili paste—far beyond what we had asked for. No other restaurant has ever done this to us. When we mentioned it to the waiter, not only did he fail to apologize, but he also blamed us for the issue. His attitude was disrespectful, and I felt like he was mocking us. It felt like they were taking revenge for some reason, which left me feeling insulted and offended.
To top it off, when we asked for extra raita to tone down the spice, one waiter told us to finish the current portion first, and then another waiter said they would charge Rs. 75 for more. This was never an issue in our previous visits, where they provided extra raita without any charge. Their dishes are already overpriced, and this petty behavior was the last straw. We couldn’t even eat the biryani properly and had to get it packed to go. The staff didn’t show any remorse or acknowledge their poor service.
The entire experience was extremely disappointing, from the overpriced dishes to the rude and unprofessional behavior of the staff. I used to think this was the best restaurant in Mysore, but I was completely wrong. I am deeply hurt and saddened by the experience. I will never visit this place again, and I strongly advise others to avoid it if they want a pleasant...
Read moreDuring my recent visit to The Indian Curry House OR Jalpan Dining Saga Veg Restaurant located at 366, 2nd & 3rd Floor, Popular Landmark Building, Ramaswamy Circle, near Jhansi Rani Lakshmi Bai Road, Chamaraja Mohalla, Chamrajpura, Mysuru, Karnataka, I had the opportunity to sample a variety of dishes from their menu. The dining experience started with trying out their Tamatar Shorba, priced at 290 INR, which I found to be a bit waterish and could have been improved for a better consistency. Moving on, the Masala Papad was decent and came at a cost of 109 INR, while the French Fries were standardly priced at 175 INR. I particularly enjoyed the Khara Palak Chat, priced at 209 INR, although I found it to be slightly on the sweeter side. The Papdi Pizza, priced at 219 INR, did not live up to expectations and could be avoided. The Broccoli Cheese Balls, priced at 259 INR, were not particularly value for money as they could have been baked or fried more for better texture and the stuffing needed improvement since it was not baked properly.
The Roti was priced at 50 INR per piece and was considered okay. The Paneer Tikka Lababdaar, priced at 335 INR, had a moderate taste and could benefit from some flavor enhancements. I also ordered a Lime Soda priced at 79 rupees, but I was disappointed to find that it lacked the fizziness expected in soda; it seemed more like water. It is uncertain whether they have an in-house soda maker that may not replicate the original soda taste as expected. Additionally, a 5% tax was charged on the bill. Parking was a bit challenging as there was no dedicated parking area for cars, but I managed to find free street-side parking when space was available. The restaurant's ambiance was acceptable; however, they only had one washroom each for gents and ladies. In case it was occupied, there was a wait time, which was not...
