This is a quick stop, probably 30 mins. It is a collection of photographs, videos, models and copies from the festival. This festival is one of the biggest in Alicante and takes place over a couple of weeks. Districts compete with each other and it includes religious processions, the burning of a massive display at the town hall and fireworks on the beach. Visit the museum and you will understand more, the model makers have an irreverent eye for detail and it shows the fun people have in the city. And it’s free plus it’s in the middle of the old town on the corner of the street so you’ll probably walk past it anyway. Make sure to follow the sound and watch the video to see what it...

The Bonfire Museum in Alicante is a fantastic and unique cultural experience. It's an essential stop for anyone visiting the city, offering a fascinating look into the history and art of the annual Bonfires of St. John festival. The museum is a free, engaging space with spectacular paper-mâché sculptures, or 'ninots', that have been saved from being burned in the yearly bonfire. It’s an accessible cultural gem that provides a great insight into local traditions. Even on a rainy day, it's a perfect way to spend about 30-40 minutes getting to know the city's festive side. I highly recommend it for its intriguing exhibits and for a different perspective on Alicante's...

To be honest: We didn't know what to expect when we went to this museum, we thought it's "just" some funny figures. But this place is more than that truly. If you really want to know something about culture in Alicante and what party's really important to the people here, you need to go to the Museu de les Fogueres. Plus the exhibition is really fun to watch. Only Minus: At the beginning it's a bit hard to find your way around because there were some constructions at the main entrance and you need to go through the back. You enter the exhibition at its end and for someone like us who didn't know what to expect anyway it ended up a bit confusing. A lovely place...

A Must-See Cultural Visit in Alicante The Museo de Les Fogueres (The Bonfires) of Alicante offers a permanent exhibition on the history and tradition of these festivities, which are celebrated annually in June. Visitors can see some of the pieces that have been saved from the flames over the years. If you are interested in learning about the process of creating these sculptures, it is possible to visit the workshops where artisans work, but only on certain dates. These can be checked on the Alicante City Council website or at tourist information points. It is likely that a reservation will be required in advance.

Ever wish you could feel the pulse of Alicante’s biggest party without the crowds? Step into the Fogueres Museum and dive into the heart of the Sant Joan festival! The vibrant ninots, spared from the flames by popular vote, tell stories of creativity and tradition that’ll leave you in awe. Did you know some of these stunning figures date back to 1932? Free to visit, it’s a must-see gem in the city center—perfect for a rainy day or a quick culture fix. Pro tip: take the L4 tram to the Londres stop for easy access, and don’t miss the video room for a fiery festival vibe
