I had done some climbing many years ago, had a few days free in Malaga so thought it would be good  to get climbing again and try a range of different climbing experiences. I contacted Silvia who was really helpful with suggestions on what to do and where, places to stay, transport etc. She set me up with local guide Rafa for my 4 days.

Day 1 was at a sport crag with a focus on the climbing basics – rope work, belaying etc, but still managed to get 7 easy routes done to find my feet again. Rafa was very helpful and patient!.

Day 2 was a multi pitch climb at El Chorro. 350m long and 10 pitches. I never thought I could do something like that, but with encouragement from Rafa I made it. Absolutely amazing. El Chorro is stunning.

Day 3 was the fun day, via ferrata. In addition to the usual ferrata climbing there was a tyrolean traverse, a tibetan bridge and a wire cable traverse. Really enjoyable, you don’t need to be a climber to do it.

Day 4 was to be an alpine climbing day, a trad route in the high mountains near Villaneuva del Rosario. Unfortunately the wind was too strong to be on an exposed mountain route, but with his local knowledge Rafa was able to quickly come up with a plan B – sport climbing on a sheltered crag. I got great coaching on my technique and climbed a harder route than I thought possible with the new skills.

All and all a fantastic 4 days, big thanks to Rafa and Silvia. Looking forward...

Hola. My name is Thomas, I am 54 years old and have been climbing since I met Silvia from The rock Climbing Company during a holiday more than 12 years ago. The owner, Silvia Fitzpatrick, took me on a via Ferrata that also involved a bit of climbing. It was the kick start of my climbing career and I am still a very active climber and teaches new climbers to the sport myself. Silvia and I are still seeing each other from time to time, and she has taken me and many of my friends on climbing trips in 'her hood' several times. Silvia is very serious about her teaching and prioritizes safety for her guests. She is both patient and calm and she has a wonderful sense of humor. Silvia is a very experienced climber and mountain guide and in her younger years she was one of Argentina's best climbers. I would recommend anyone who wishes to go on a guided rock climbing trip or wants to be taught rock climbing skills to consult Silvia and The Rock...

I booked a 4 day Outdoor Climbing Course with Silvi and the Rock Climbing Company in Spain.

I had only done a bit of indoor bouldering before and wanted to learn the rope work and procedures for outdoor climbing so that I could join other experienced climbers in the future.

Silvi, who runs the climbing Company in Soain, showed me the beautiful mountain area north of Malaga, el Chorro. There we did many different climbs; some on top rope as well as some supervised ‘mock lead climbing’ to learn to lead climb in a safe way.

We learned and practised many outdoor climbing skills such as movement on the rock and managing the top anchors safely.

I really enjoyed the experience and would recommend the Rock Climbing Company in  Spain to anyone wanting to experience rock climbing safely and having fun in the mountains of Malaga.

Thank you so much Sylvia and...
