So the hotel is beautiful and the staff at reception and the spa are friendly and helpful. But two major things happened when we stayed. The big issue was we had dinner in the restaurant. My son ordered something off the kids menu which was inedible. It was an ‘escalope’ for €18. We sent it back and they sent out a replacement which was also inedible but also impossible to cut. We had ti send it back and give my son food from our plates as we did not feel confident that we would ever get the dish correctly prepared. In 95% of the restaurants I have eaten, some one always comes to the table to ask how the meal was, even in restaurants like VIPs and Fosters (I am not trying to knock or say anything bad about these restaurants but these are restaurants with hundreds of tables and so easy for a manager to forget to ask). Our table was avoided like the plague. Nobody came near us. I would have expected a manager or somebody in charge to come and apologise the first time, not to mention the second time the dish was returned. But they didn’t. We had to call a waitress and tell her that we didn’t think it was normal that nobody had come. 15 minutes later I had to call the waitress again and say that I didn’t think it was normal after saying that someone should have come, that someone still hadn’t come. Let’s make something clear, the restaurant was not busy and the manager had plenty of time to talk to every other table! When he approached he came with an attitude. First he said he saw no reason why he had to come when the waitress had already apologised. I mean seriously. A customer in your restaurant returns a dish not once but twice and then says they don’t want to eat anything and you ‘the manager’ feel you didn’t need to apologise or come over to the table! Then he said that the staff were tired after Christmas. I am really sorry but that isn’t my fault. The hotel or restaurant didn’t offer a discount because staff may be tired. I know that may sound cold but it is a terrible excuse and like I said, the manager had plenty of time to talk to all the other tables. Wasn’t he tired after Christmas to talk to them? Then he insulted us by trying to insinuate that we were only making the complaint to get a free meal. Instead of holding up his hands and saying ‘mea culpa’ he dug himself further and further into a hole. It was disappointing and not something I would expect from a a restaurant, let alone a 5 star hotel restaurant. We got a discount of €20 on the bill and a free coffee and shot of brandy. But honestly I would have accepted a real apology, a sincere one without the poor attitude and excuses. On the day we left we went down to the spa and I was having a tea and when I went to throw my cup in the bin, there for everybody to see was a list of all the clients of the hotel and how they had booked their rooms and also other data. I have my own business and so I know how serious customer data management is and I can tell you that throwing a full list of clients information in the bin for anyone to read is breaking the law. I would expect more form a professional company. So in all I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. They have another place in Olmedo that we have been to a few times and it is 4 stars but the treatment of guests is so...
Read moreThe staff knows nothing, does not speak English AT ALL and is very very not helpful.
The staff does not know anything about their jobs and simply refuse to provide any decent service. Here are some examples:
We paid 18 euros the first night for private parking. In the morning of day 2, we asked for our car key to go for a drive. We asked the hotel valet person to show us where the parking is, so we can walk there and take our car. Instead, the valet person got into another guest’s car and drove off. Leaving my wife and I standing in the rain trying to find the parking place. After standing in the rain for 10 minutes, there was no sign of the hotel staff anywhere, so we called the front desk and they apparently have completely forgotten about the whole thing. Furthermore, when the valet person was taking another person’s car to the parking spot, he asked us if we wanted to ride in the other guest’s car without the guest’s consent, which was 100% not ok. Because I certainly would not want any other guest ride in my car without my knowledge.
Very very unprofessional staff and the management clearly does not care about the guests by having staff like this.
2.in our first day of stay, my wife and I each got 2 spa treatments worth of 700 euros. After our treatment, we wanted some more for the next day, and were told there was availability at 1 pm on the second day. But we were leaving the hotel the second day and would need late check out in order to be able to shower after the treatment.
The spa person said there should be no problem with late checkouts, so we booked the spa treatment at 3:30pm of day 1 for 1pm treatment on day 2. Then at 5pm of day 1, we spoke to the front desk and were told we weren’t allowed late checkout, With this new information, we called the spa people and said we don’t want to do the spa any more because we cannot get late checkout and the spa person told us we cannot cancel within 24 hours and will be charged.
Our entire stay experience here has been a nightmare and will 100% not come back.
If you want a relaxing weekend away from Madrid, away from your work, and away from your stress, stay away from this hotel.
We have been to the other Castilla Thermal hotels many many many times and have not experienced such frustration as we have experienced here.
We will never come back to this hotel ever again and I hope no one else gets to experience the amount of frustration on their holidays as we did.
I wish I could rate this...
