Disappointed by how unwelcoming the house-museum was
No question the location of the museum and its garden are outstanding. The free docent Museum Highlights tour was enjoyable and quite informative. While the location is well worth visiting, staff need to be re-educated. Too rude and unhelpful. We drove to Port Llegat from Barcelona, a 2-hour drive journey. Unfortunately, we arrived late due to a car accident on the highway, therefore, we missed our time slot for the visit. The discourteous woman at the ticket office did not let us visit the house of Dali, only the garden, as we arrived late. We pre booked and paid the tickets weeks before as we were keen to visit the House, however, we could not even get a voucher or a partial refund. Anyway, we were late, we tried to find an alternative and we accepted we could not do the full tour of the House. What disappointed me was not only the fact I couldn’t visit part of the house of Dali, but rather the arrogance and bossy-primary school attitude of the person should welcome the CLIENTS. The worst, most unbelievable part of the entire visit was the security guard attitude. Not only because he showed a rude and ironic behavior towards two foreign ladies but rather the inability to handle situation and MANAGE OBSERVATIONS FROM THE CLIENTS. This ““Gentleman”” in a threatening manner came to me asking if there was any problem (aggressive or genuine question, Sir?) As I did not have any concerns in saying the problem was his utterly inexcusable behavior, he said “Cajate”. Sadly for him, I speak Spanish and I know the meaning of that expression (Callate= Shut up). Sadly for him, I replied back to him. Looking back, I perhaps should have made a bigger scene about it, but I guess all I can do now is give these people negative feedback. I fell sorry for Salvador Dali, his Museum should be left in good hands. Some of the staff should learn manners. No respect...

Read moreDalí's house is an absolute jewel with its stunning natural and architectural settings, deserving of recognition in its own right. However, our experience was somewhat tarnished by the guide's complete lack of passion and depth in understanding Dalí and Gala's lives and work. It was rather disheartening when such a marvellous place, not the simplest to access, is represented by someone who seems indifferent to the incredible legacy they're entrusted to showcase. We privately suggested to the guide the importance of conveying more enthusiasm and knowledge to visitors, yet we were met with an indifferent response. Moreover, the underwhelming reference to Gala merely as 'his wife' failed to acknowledge her significant influence in Dalí's life and art. For future visitors, we recommend doing some research beforehand to fully appreciate what the house has to offer. This place has the potential to be an enlightening experience if presented by guides who respect and passionately share the remarkable story of Dalí and Gala's legacy. Our overall visit to the house is one to be cherished, but unfortunately, we give a 2-star review to the guide, who did not meet the expectations of such a...
