Carla En Brut is a relatively secluded cove, just off a residential road, close to Los Delfines and 10 minutes walk from the Globales Almirante Farragut resort hotel. It is readily accessed from the road, and is free! It is easily reached on foot from the bus stops, and is a short stroll from the cafés and restaurants of L of a Delfines.
The Platforms are essentially a number of concreted areas situated on naturally eroded ledges in the cliffs, common to the coves of Menorca. They are big enough to lay out a towel and take in the sun, and have prepared high water entry sites along the cliffs, of varying heights, from 1m up to probably 5-6m. The more adventurous may follow the locals off the beaten track to less obvious jumps of around 10m. Be careful, high-water entry is extremely dangerous! The water depth is not tested or assured, though advice can be gleaned from watching where the locals are jumping from and using a bit of common sense.
THERE ARE NO LIFE GUARDS OR OFFICIALS ENSURING ANY KIND OF SAFETY HERE.
It's busy on sunny days, especially the weekends, as the locals are as excited to jump into the clear blue waters as the tourists. Unless you're there early it's difficult to find a good place to relax, especially if there's a few of you. If you're inclined to, I recommend a waterproof bag that you might swim with, around the cliffs a little way to your own private ledge.
There are barriers that provide no more than an indication of where the edges are. They won't stop a determined toddler from getting into the water, so keep an eye on little ones as you need to.
Ultimately, a great place to visit and great for a day whilst you're in the area, especially if you, like me, need an adrenaline injection...
Read moreCala en Brut is the perfect spot for adventurous folks looking to take a refreshing plunge. It's a haven for cliff jumping and water enthusiasts, with its crystal-clear waters and rocky formations. However, it's important to note that this cove doesn't offer sandy shores for sunbathing. Instead, you'll find flat concrete areas that provide a place to relax and soak up the sun. While it lacks the traditional beach experience, it's a unique destination for thrill-seekers. Just be sure to bring suitable footwear, as the concrete can get hot under the sun. Overall, Cala en Brut is a must-visit if you're up for a thrilling day by the water, but it's not the typical sandy beach you...
Read moreI first found this on an early morning walk and we returned the same day for snorkelling. We arrived around 11am on a Saturday and it was starting to fill up with locals.
Lots of places to lay towels though and there are plenty of places for cliff jumping etc.
Beware the jellyfish... My youngest was stung across the ankles but the pain only lasted an afternoon. The local people were incredibly helpful when it happened. If I could find the chap who stayed with us, and used his knowledge to reduce the effects of the venom, I'd love to buy him a beer!
