Just back from a fantastic trip to southern Spain planned with and supported by Emily of South Ole Spain Tours. Did I mention that it was a fantastic trip?! Four of us -- two couples -- worked with Emily on our first trip to Spain. From the very beginning we were impressed with Emily's knowledge, connections and approach to planning. She listened and responded to our interests, needs and hopes and put together an itinerary that ultimately met all of our expectations. An important and impressive part of the process was Emily's ability to respond and adjust to our requested modifications.

There were five key aspects of our trip that were critical to our having a successful adventure, and Emily gets a gold star for achieving each one.

First, we opted to leave the driving to others. So, we asked Emily to arrange drivers and make other travel arrangements for us for the entire trip. Our goal was to minimize the anxiety involved with that part of traveling to a new place and I can't say enough about how much Emily's support in this regard mattered to our overall enjoyment of our trip.

Second, Emily's guidance about where to go and what to see were invaluable. We certainly had our own ideas about this but Emily offered essential insight that added nice dimensions and experiences to the trip that we might not have identified or appreciated if we were left to our own devices. As an aside, I strongly suggest building in plenty of unstructured time to give you time to wander and explore.

Third, we told Emily what we were looking for relative to housing -- apartments, not hotels -- and the neighborhoods where we preferred to stay. She identified great possibilities, shared options with us and made all the reservations.

Fourth, we asked Emily to arrange guides for us for certain locations. Each guide she selected was incredibly knowledgeable and personable. Their English language skills were strong and we certainly didn't have any issues with communication. The scheduled amount of time was perfect in all cases and we learned a tremendous amount.

Fifth, and finally, Emily took care of the details. I've already mentioned guides, drivers and housing but she bought tickets for sites as well. Being able to rely on Emily's experience and skill saved us hours and hours of time in advance.

Every aspect of our 10 day Andalusian tour organized by Guided Spain Tours was outstanding. The hotels, drivers and especially the tour guides were excellent. The women of Guided Spain Tours were also very responsive to our needs since there were some in our group with physical limitations. In every instance they responded in a timely & reassuring manner. Drivers transported us from train stations to hotels, to meeting points with guides, etc. In every instance they were early - polite - accommodating. The same was true of our fantastic tour guides. In every instance, they arrived early to meet us & enthusiastically shared information about their assigned point of interest, be it the town of Rondo, the Alhambra, etc. We were very impressed with their depth of knowledge. All of the guides also accommodated our need for frequent rest stops.

All the hotels were well situated , well appointed and most importantly, clean. Each were in easy walking distance of "downtown" which made city explorations easy. Our breakfasts were included & were all excellent.

Emily helped arranged for us ( a couple) a car transfer from Seville to Gibraltar. We were very grateful for the excellent services provided. The driver David from Seville was punctual, polite and professional. The vehicle used ( Mercedes Vito van) was very clean and comfortable, just as Emily promised. David walked us through the border, helping us with the many bags we have. At the border control points there was a small hiccup as my partner is American and the Gibraltar immigration officer were not sure if he could enter under the latest Covid-prevention rules. They took some time to sort this out with their superiors and also asked my partner to go back to get an exit stamp on his passport by the Spanish immigration staff. In the end the officers from both sides concluded that it’s unnecessary. and my partner could enter without any problem. Throughout this baffling incident David stayed with us and even helped us explain the situation to the Spanish officers. We felt grateful he was so kind and helpful. The driver on the Gibraltar side was also very patient and nice. Emily was kindly checking on our transfer and provided useful info via Whatsapp when she learnt of the incident from David. This shows she really cares. We will gladly use Emily’s service...
