Skualo Portocolom — Attraction in Felanitx

Worst scuba diving experience yet. AVOID. Nothing compared to the other Skualo dive centers in Mallorca.

We were asked to pay the entirety in cash (which is very sketchy and not something that was asked from us in the other Skualo centers). A german man asked us for our dive log immediately and certifications without even saying « hello ».

He didn’t know how to use the Padi dive log and claimed our dives and certifications were not valid by barely looking at them and seeing that we completed 5 dives for our Padi Open Water licence (2 the same day for 2 days). He was screaming at us, treating us badly, saying we shouldn’t be there. He limited our dive to 12meters. Everyone was rude, made faces towards us, no one even said « hello » besides our monitor. The boat captain, I believe a dutch woman, and another french man kept talking really loudly about how we weren’t supposed to be there and mocking how stupid we were to get scammed by the diving center we got our licenses. The french man even went on to criticize our goggles.

While putting our equipment together I was so on edge I strapped the vest on the weong side of the bottle. When I realized that and was readjusting it, the german man said mockingly « I can tell how good of a diver you’ll be by seeing how you build your equipment ». I felt like I was on a military test and made me even more nervous, which is something you certainly DO NOT WANT before a scuba dive as it can be extremely dangerous.

I contacted PADI with my dive logs and program, and they said everything is ok and in order, and we should have been able to do a proper dive.

As for the dive site, nothing to see, zero visibility, barely any fishes. WASTE OF YOUR MONEY (we paid 98€ per person while the other Skualos in Mallorca charges us 75€ per person equipment included).

The people there claimed they were doing us a favor taking our ONLY CASH money and proceeded to mock us. They were extremely unprofessional, and we were one step away from leaving. The only reason we didn’t leave was because we would lose all of the amount we paid for booking, so might as well suck it up, dive, and leave.

I want to share the full story of my experience, both the good and the not-so-good — and how it was ultimately resolved.

First of all, the cave dive itself was absolutely incredible. The underwater scenery was breathtaking, and the staff were friendly, professional, and clearly passionate about what they do. I genuinely had an amazing time during the dive and would recommend the experience to others for that part alone.

However, after the dive, I had paid an additional €20 for professional photos to be sent to my email. Unfortunately, after nearly a week of waiting and following up multiple times via messages and even in person, I still hadn’t received the pictures. That led to a lot of frustration and, admittedly, some negative reviews from me and my family out of sheer disappointment.

Eventually, we discovered the problem — my email had been incorrectly noted (one letter off), so the photos were being sent to the wrong address the whole time. Once this was found out, the team worked with me to make sure I received the pictures properly, and I’m happy to say they look absolutely fantastic.

All our previous negative reviews (mine, my girlfriend’s, and my grandmother’s) have been removed, and I’m writing this review to reflect the full situation. The mistake was an unfortunate one, but it wasn’t out of bad intent. That said, I do recommend they consider sending a copy of the original email to customers if issues like this arise again — it could save both sides a lot of frustration.

If you want to spoil your holiday, choose this dive center! I want to leave an objective and fair review that is going to help others. Let me explain; We got a really unfriendly welcome from the owner. Both him and the captain unduly disrespected and humiliated their employee in front of all the guests. The captain also was rude to me directly. Initially they tried to charge us for the full equipment even though we just needed BCD+REG+TANK. They also charge a 10eur fee for the pressure chamber, fair enough, but this should be disclosed beforehand. The facilities and equipment is okay.
