Euskal Herria Museoa — Attraction in Guernica

Lovely museum which explains the entire history and culture of the Basque peoples or people in this region starting from Paleolithic times to present day Basque country. There's also a temporary exhibit on the Basque community in California in the US. Most exhibitions have English, French and Catalan translations but not all and it makes it a bit difficult for someone not speaking Euskara or Spanish. I believe that having at least the English translation would be helpful so that most foreigners visiting this place would understand the history of this place (I guess that's the main goal). Although it looks like a relatively small museum from outside, this place is surprisingly spacious inside and can easily occupy an hour or more. It’s a fascinating collection dedicated to aspects of Basque history and culture, not a complete story as much as a series of episodes supported by plentiful models, photos, displays and maps, finishing with aspects of modern Basque culture. Un museu imprescindible per entendre la cultura i la història del poble basc. Es troba just al costat de la Casa de Juntes de Gernika, així que és molt fàcil de trobar. Petit però molt ben estructurat, amb exposicions clares i acurades dividides per territoris històrics. Destaca especialment la planta baixa, amb maquetes i diorames molt didàctics que ajuden a entendre l’evolució de la societat basca: la seva forma de vida, eines, agricultura, menjar, etc.

És un museu pensat per a tothom, també per a famílies amb infants, que s’ho passen d’allò més bé mentre aprenen. A la planta superior hi ha una secció dedicada a Hemingway i una zona audiovisual molt ben aconseguida.
