We had a really nice family holiday with young kids staying at the eco yurt suite. The suite was great because it's one big tent with a double and two singles, so great for young kids who might not like a separate tent. The suite also had a large private neatly manicured outdoor space with plenty of room for running around (for the kids), and a really nice dining area and a chillout bed. My only gripe here was the kitchen was at the back and because the suite is so large, any meal involved shuttling backwards and forwards lots. The communal spaces (pool, kids playground) were great, and (one of) the kids really enjoyed meeting Molly the donkey too. I also enjoyed the cactii and other flora that have been planted.
There's lots of really nice places to see in the area. Beaches galore, surfing spots and amazing viewpoints, volcanos, etc. Arrieta itself doesn't have much, but a couple of decent mini supermarkets at least. Couldn't find a good coffee spot there, nor decent heladeria unfortunately!
Two reasons why i'm only giving 4 stars: We arrived early on check-in for a donkey ride, which were told had been cancelled. It's fine that it's cancelled but why not inform us in advance (given the amount of pre-arrival communication that had otherwise been sent)? So having arrived early, enquired as to whether the yurt would be available before 4pm, and was told it was not ready but they'd let us know when it was. Went out for the afternoon to burn time and came back at 3.30pm. Yurt looked exactly as it had done at noon. I had a look around and it was obviously prepared (though the wind had since swept sand into every corner). To me it looked like it had been prepared when we first arrived (perhaps noone had been staying there the previous night in any case?). Still no communication from the owners (and they are not on site in the afternoons), texted them to enquire, and got no reply. Eventually decided just to move in. Finally got a reply from owner at 3.59pm saying 'sorry yes the yurt was ready'. So in summary, communication is good when it comes to selling additional services, but less so when it comes to the things that matter. The finca is quite close to the main road to Arrieta. This is not really a problem in the daytime. But at night time the traffic noise seems to heighten (perception of), and the yurts offer little sound-proofing. I was really surprised at how busy that road is. Then at about 2am-5.30am the traffic all but stops and you can hear the waves from the sea which is nice. But then the traffic noise comes back. Not the fincas...
Read moreWe have just returned from 5 nights staying in the yurt royale and we all had a fab time.| The yurt itself is absolutely stunning and the little private enclosure encompassing yurt, kitchen/living room, bathroom with shower, outdoor bath, outdoor dining table and chill zone is really cool. | The communal areas onsite are a nice touch, as is the honesty shop and fridge (though stocking some kind of milk would be nice). The chicken pen our kids loved visiting and picking fresh eggs for breakfast (free) and feeding/stroking the donkeys. The kids play area is also really nice. There are two small pools to use which are solar heated but don't expect them to be extremely warm. It just takes the edge off which was fine for us, but our kids got a little cold after a little while. | I have knocked down a star as the mosquito nets above the beds are not positioned correctly and I had 3 uncomfortable, claustrophobic nights sleeping under them until a quick Google told me they should be placed centrally above the bed not at the head end. Fortunately there were 2 large beds in our yurt and one of the nets could be moved (the other was tied up with a hook meaning it could not be moved) so after moving the net to a more central position over the bed I slept much more comfortably. | We also had issues with the oven but they were resolved eventually. | The road noise is a little off-putting first thing in the morning but it's one of the central roads through the north of the island so not a lot can be done about that. | The price is also a bit of a bone of contention. I loved the look of the place so had my heart on staying regardless but I think for the price, it fell a little short for me. |For ease of use, we opted for the airport transfer but at 150euro this was seriously overpriced in my opinion considering seeing the taxi prices advertised at a much lower price. | All in all, we had a great stay. Should we look to stay in Lanzarote again I may consider staying here again if the...
Read moreThis was our second visit to the Eco Village. We loved it so much the first time (April 2022) we rebooked immediately for May 2023 - and are booked to stay again in October 2024!||Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) stayed in the Eco Luxury Yurt Suite for 9 nights.||We love the Eco Village and the yurts. Our yurt was clean and extremely spacious with lovely bed linen and superb sitting spaces - as well as plenty of clothes storage space. There was a day bed and hammock outside as well as a large covered dining table. There is a well appointed kitchen with fridge, hob, cooker and grill and a delightful bathroom with large tub and shower.||The site is great - so close to the sea and, unlike other reviewers, we have never had a problem with road noise - we have stayed in the Twin Yurt too. You are 5 minutes walk from an amazing seafood restaurant and 10 minutes from the village centre shops. ||The kids love the clean pool - (it is small and not particularly warm but works perfectly for them). They have enjoyed feeding the chickens and collecting the eggs, the table tennis table and the bijou kids play area with trampoline. I appreciate the honesty bar, honesty shop and library and have enjoyed yoga there too. We really love the optional paella night. We've met some really interesting people too - it's not just Brits abroad.||The site is beautifully maintained with local planting of cacti and hardy plants. You have both sea and mountain views in one location.||The staff are completely fantastic - the service they provide is excellent and they have helped us with: transfers to and from airport, hybrid car hire, recommending activities, ordering food.||So what is there not to like? In my mind, nothing. If the above doesn't give a feel for the place then..... it's a very relaxed, beautiful, bohemian style place with excellent customer service but without unnecessary "bling" or waste.||Thank you Lanzarote Retreats for creating...
