Unfortunately as tourists who don’t speak Spanish we didn’t enjoy our experience. It was a cool way to get to Aranjuez, the train itself was cute, not sure about other coaches, but we coach 2 was packed like a cattle coach. The whole train ride had loud music blasting the whole time, staff dressed up as traditional characters came past and blasted stories and role playing, very loud and obnoxious. Kids would definitely enjoy the experience but the whole thing is in Spanish so we couldn’t understand. The website has English version so I thought the experience would include some English, but there was none. We rode around town on the bus when we arrived at Aranjuez with no English explanation so we had no idea what we were seeing. When it came to walking guided tour time we didn’t see any English guide we just decided to leave the tour and explore on our own. Maybe the experience has English guide however no one helped us find them, no staff came to explain things to us. I wouldn’t bother with this experience if you don’t...

Walking through the railway museum to board our antique but operating train was an experience.

The seats were hardwood, straight back. If you are not of average/ medium built, you might end up being squashed with the passenger next to you….

Although we bought tickets that said “English” speaking - it was Spanish all the way on the one hour journey to & back from Aranjuez….. 😳 clueless as to all the commentary & singing & “comedy” that was played out.

Cannot imagine what the condition will be in summer, as there are no fan / aircon onboard, only open half windows & wooden shutters that do not stay in place when we tried to close them.

A box of 3-4 fresh strawberries were distributed on the return journey. Not very sweet...

MUCHAS GRACIAS...

Fabulous way to visit Aranjuez with actors setting the scene and history of the railway on the way out, and a fascinating commentary on the way back. There is an 'English' train if you can't cope, but have a go if you've got basic Spanish The actors did a great job and you will have to sing !! 😊 As with all heritage trains, there is great hilarity on the way back when the engine is transferred from front to back of train and the uninitiated try to sit in the wrong carriage, 😀 We were diesel hauled, but I'm sure there are steam runs at certain times please check.
