I am a fan of Manzanilla and I was really looking forward to my visit and taste the freshest Manzanilla and also to try some of the aged VOR and VORS. I must say, the whole experience just exceeded my expectations! First of all, I was guided by Victor who spoke in excellent English and extremely knowledgeable not only on sherry winemaking but also the history of the region and the family property. As a native Sanlúcar and Andalusian, his explanations were wonderful to listen to as he explained with such great pride and passion. I must say, this is one of the best if not the best winery visits I’ve ever done. Victor had made my visit extremely positive and La Gitana will forever etched in my mind with some of the most unforgettable tastings in the cellars and straight from the Sherry casks! I also bought some bottles and looking forward to opening them with my friends and to share this wonderful...
English: My experience at the La Gitana manzanilla winery in Sanlúcar was disappointing. We were a group of 13 people, and unfortunately, the treatment we received was quite poor. Due to the carnivals and the tractor strike, we arrived 10 minutes late, and instead of understanding, we were scolded by both guides, who responded rudely when they opened the door, as well as by the store staff, in front of everyone present.
I understand the importance of punctuality, and we apologize for the delay, but it is crucial to remember that visitors are customers who are paying to enjoy the experience. Being publicly reprimanded is unprofessional.
The visit itself was average, although there were too many personal anecdotes from the guide that did not seem relevant to those of us who are not locals or foreigners.
I expected an experience more focused on tasting and the history of the winery. We all deserve to be treated with respect, regardless of the circumstances. I hope that La Gitana can improve its customer service in the future to provide more satisfying experiences for...
Read moreMy wife and I took the tour with our two sons, and agreed that it was the best bodega tour we've ever been on--and we've been going on bodega tours in the region for nearly 20 years. Our guide, Leo, was fantastic: She provided loads of information on the process and history behind the wine, answered all our questions, and conveyed a genuine passion for manzanilla. And the wine was absolutely delicious! If you're shopping for a bodega tour in Sanlucar, don't even bother looking elsewhere: This is the one. We took a cab back and forth from Jerez de la Frontera to do the tour, have lunch, go to the beach and visit the castle. It was 100% worth it, and I'd have come just for...
