The Castillo de San Andrés is small and mostly a ruin, but definitely worth a quick stop if you’re in the area. Built in the 1700s to defend Tenerife, it even played a part during Admiral Nelson’s failed attack on Santa Cruz in 1797. Floods later split the tower in two, leaving it with a striking, broken look that gives it a lot of character.
You won’t spend long here—it’s more about the atmosphere than exploration—but the setting between Las Teresitas beach and the Anaga mountains makes it really photogenic.
