Beautiful peaceful get away. Very hilly and uneven, so Not ideal for the less mobile or those with pushchair's, unless ultra fit 🏋️‍♀️ We've hired a car for the fortnight, which I'm so glad we did... it also means we're not limited to the actual resort as being a small town, they bang the prices up on basic necessities, there's loads of supermarkets out of the town... again if you've no car, this can be difficult (there are plenty of buses and taxis though) The beach is black sand (there are a number of golden man made beaches dotted around Tenerife🏝) it's clean and well kept, with porta loos and life guard on site, who also hires Umbrellas and loungers for small fee. 🏖 The local bars and restaurants 🍻are friendly and some more lively than others, so no need to feel at a loose end in the evenings. All in all, this resort is ideal for a quiet chill holiday🏖 if you like to party this place is definitely NOT for you. End note.... There's lots of retired British living here, so there's hardly any language barriers (pharmacy,🏥 supermarket,🍟 etc) Have a fabulous holiday! 🌞🥂

Los Gigantes hotel in the South of Tenerife is a lovely hotel. All members of staff are very friendly and if you need anything you only have to ask. They are very accomadeing...food is very good. So much to choose from .room's are really nice. Cleaned every day and clean towels and toiletries are put in your room every day. A gym on site if you want to go..a spa area with beauty treatments available. Sauna. Steam room..heated pool with jets in to massage your body..outside is a lovely swimming pool..fitness classes if you would like to join in..the yoga was very good..at the side of the hotel just down a small hill is a harbour with shops and bars..and water sports..you will find a small area of a sandy beach that has dark sand. But very clean and tidy..plenty of buses and taxi to take you further out to a larger sandy beach if you want to go..Los Gigantes is a small quite village with shops..bar's and restaurants. Gigantes is a lovely part of Tenerife..

We decided to come here to finish our day of hiking in the mountains nearby. Of course it is one of the most famous 'must-sees' on the Island of Tenerife. But I have to say in my opinion it is a 'should-see' at best. Yes the huge cliffs towering over the beach and coast are impressive but the impressed feeling quickly goes away when you sit on the beach and look around. I have to say that I am not the biggest fan of black sand beaches but of course I understand they are typical here. For me though, the combination of the ugly eye-sore of a harbour wall and the industrial cement that they have sprayed onto the cliffs just gave me an unpleasant feeling. We stopped there for literally 10 minutes, which for us was more than enough. So back to what I said at the beginning, if you are nearby then you 'should' take a quick look at the cliffs. But if it means jumping on a bus and crossing the island to see them, I probably wouldn't bother!

Many reviews here fail by talking about the town and environ, not the beach. The beach has dark (near black) sand which is scorching under the sun. Its difficult to get into and out of the water with the rocks just under the surface of the sea, but there are fish to view if you snorkel. There are small stones falling from the cliff, even with the protection put up. The life guards try to keep the public to the end where the protection is established. Its a small beach with a swimming area that boats are discouraged from entering. However, on our second visit, the water was much less clear, and items that might have been flushed away were evident, indictating sewerage had been washed back onto the beach! Further out towards the harbour the water was once again clear (hour later). Hence the 3 star rating. Plenty of ice cream shops near by. Parking looked difficult, with much exhaust fumes caused by people turning round where the entrance to the harbour was closed due to being full....
