La Paella Rústica — Restaurant in Santiago del Teide

Found this place on the harbour. Delighted to find somewhere with lobster on my fiances birthday, we was soon disappointed when I asked the waiter for a sweet rose and he told me 2 wines off of the menu, when I tasted it was very dry, but I hoped this was not a indication of things to come, boy was I wrong!!!! The cutlery came out and I said to my partner it was rather unpolished with marks all over, but wiping it off I tried not to make a fuss hoping it was an oversight, we had garlic bread with cheese to share for starters as we figured the seafood to share between us was going to be plenty, although very hot we thought great as I hate cold food, when taking our order for the main the waiter asked if we would like salad or Spanish potatoes with it, thinking it was included as he had asked and we had not ordered, I said I would like the salad but my partner would prefer the potatoes, was that ok I asked, yes he said, obviously knowing when the bill came that it wasn't included and the salad was nearly 10euros and the potatoes nearly 5euros, clearly I thought it was included as otherwise I would not have asked if it was allowed!!!! But the waiter did not point it out and for this I feel cheated!!! When the main came, it looked fantastic, although we had been given no plate to put the empty shells on and just 2 wipes instead of a finger bowl, which is definitely needed!!! Well what can I say about the main, it was cold (apart from the prawns) and I told the waiter this when he asked how are food was, to which he was obviously not happy about, as I seen him slam down whatever was in his hand at the counter afterwards, although he did not have a word with the cooks!!! The lobster was tiny with little meat and we both got no meat just runny juice out of the crab, it was so disappointing after we looked everywhere for lobster I am so glad we didn't go for a lobster each. This is the most expensive meal we have had since being here and the worst by far, I just hope we don't end up ill tomorrow in hindsight we should have refused to eat it as it was all cold, but I didn't want to trapse back up the hill as it was me who was so eager to have lobster!!! Myself and Partner spent our time in Los Gigantes and came across La Paella Rustica and the restaurant didn’t fail to impress. Being from the UK, We were searching for a little restaurant that locals actually go to and we found that in LPR - offering authentic dishes. First things first the service was second to none, a massive thank you to Salvador in particular for being so welcoming and being a fantastic host on both days , he made our day!.

We came here multiple times during our stay once for lunch and once for dinner. Dishes such as Seafood Soup, Soup of the day and spaghetti normally sells out by dinner time. In regards to the seafood soup I can understand why, it was absolutely delicious, full of flavour and generous portion at hand, great to have alongside their selection of tapas.

The garlic prawns starter, in which we ordered three loads of and the seafood Paella for two was great. Probably the best seafood I’ve had in a while, full of clams, langoustines, mussels, squid, and meaty fish.

we were nearby and we’re looking for a bite to eat. We walked past this empty restaurant it’s about 2:30 pm and then we thought maybe we can have lunch here. So we sat down, but we were not sure so we ordered a few taps we ordered garlic prawns, chicken wings, grilled octopus, and grilled scallops. The food was okay but not impressive. The scallops were very small. The octopus was a little overcooked and chewy. The chicken wings were the same the garlic prawns were tasty, but they were much smaller compared to what we had last night. But what we did not like the most was the service the staff kept coming over to take our plates away. We were still in the middle of the meal and we had something to sort out and busy on our phones so we took our time to eat but it seems that the staff was in a hurry for some strange reasons, maybe they don’t have enough clean plates?
