Beautiful and fascinating; this gives you the experience of entering beneath the ocean and visiting the ecosystems of Isla Cabrera! It felt really magical to our young son, mesmerizing to watch the sea creatures. Lots of cool cave-like structures to explore, very interactive with a pool he could look from above and also huge tanks. Lovely outdoor area with art.
2 tips:
1 - this is an interpretive center, meaning it seeks the visitor to experience nature. Not like a “edutainment” experience like the Palma Aquarium. (Nothing wrong with that either, it’s just different — apples and oranges).
2 - if visiting with a stroller be prepared to walk back through. The exhibit ends in steps and the elevator is closed due to Covid. Not a bit concern, just a little time saver. (We carried the stroller up too...
Read morePleasant little aquarium with an interesting video (in Spanish) about the geological history of the balleraics, and a massive 4-storey mural about the history and culture of the Mediterranean. Not too pricey at €20 for our family of four (less than I spent on sunblock at the beach shop around the corner!). Unfortunately several aspects of the experience fall short: the glass elevators that are supposed to carry you up through a tank to view the mural (must have been impressive when they worked) look permanently out of order, so you have to walk up a concrete back staircase. The tanks are missing signage so you have little idea of what you are seeing, and the outdoor pools were all dry and empty. Still probably worth a visit, especially if the...
Read moreOverall it is a small and very cute aquarium that teaches you about local marine life, our child had a lot of fun there. Two things that would have been better: the informational texts at the different pools don't always match the animals in the respective pool. Also at the time of our visit both elevators didn't work, which would have been nice to know when we entered. Since we used a stroller it was really strenuous to get out without the elevators - there are about two flights of stairs you couldn't avoid. The aquarium itself is fully accessible and once you're out you can get on top of the aquarium and have a...
