This church quite rightly is the main attraction of Teror. Really recommend visiting on a Sunday as there is a lovely open air market around the church and the whole town and this area in particular has a joyous vibe. This church is home to the Madonna of the Pine (in times gone by the Virgin Mary was sighted under a pine tree in a nearby forest) and very significant to the Island. It’s very large given the size of the town and stunning inside. There was a mass going on when we visited but we were allowed to step inside and welcomed in but no photos inside. I had wanted to visit the Treasure room as apparently it has a bizarre set of gifts to Madonna of the Pine but couldn’t given the mass. It felt like a church of beauty and positive vibes.

A beautiful well maintained church that has The virgin of the Pines, the Patron Saint of Gran Canaria. Very well maintained and situated in a square with huge trees and cafe/restaurants with seating in the sun. Open toilets nearby. Some lovely wooden carvings and ceilings and the stained glass windows are really nice. Their is a small museum at the back, which is part of the church but unfortunately it was closed.

One of the most important churches of the island and the Canary Islands, built in the second half of the 18th century, having the status of a basilica. A place of pilgrimage and celebrations (September) located surrounded by mountains and beautiful streets in a picturesque square. It is located in the heart of the town and this is where all roads lead.

Teror is a town with a rich history dating back to pre-Hispanic times. It was once inhabited by the Guanche people, the indigrnous population of the Canary islands, and later became a significant religious center, after being conquered by the Spanish in the 15th century. Walking its colorful streets with charming wooden balconies is truly delightful.
