After visiting many countries in Europe, I was bored of traditional art and history museums. My expat friend in Valencia recommended I checked out this place. I was skeptical but I was pleasantly surprised. I learned about the whole idea of the "fallero" and artistic culture in the city. I've never seen a museum like this. It seems that it isn't well known because me and my friend were the only ones there. The man working the desk was extremely kind and seemed grateful that people were so enthused by his culture! He was very passionate about the subject when I asked him about the origins and history of the fallas. So, the museum has a bunch of different sculptures to look at. Some are funny, some are super detailed, and others are just totally random. It’s such a unique mix of art and tradition. Definitely not a typical museum, but that’s what made it so fun to visit. If you’re ever in Valencia, it’s worth checking out, especially if you’re around during the festival! 😀 Here are some of...
Read moreOdd little museum showing art works from the Faller festival (March, this year). Unique to this city, I've never seen anything quite like it. Related to its companion museum near Arts Center, but some bigger pieces in view. Located out in the northwest suburbs of the city, not easy to get to, 40min bus (#28) ride, in the art factory area where the pieces, floats are actually being made (walk around back, and look in, if doors open, styrofoam and wood everywhere).
4E entry, WC inside, AC/heat, well cared for. The guy taking care of the place was very nice. Some local student tours going through. It's a neat little museum if you like this type of art (which I do), grand caricatures, odd themes, some outrageous, historical figures (Chaplin, Gandhi, John Travolta?). Artists doing what artists do; make you think beyond yourself, for a little while, something in a big city is near impossible. For most I think its sister museum...
