I hate to leave a bad review but this experience really deserves it. My family and I arrived, my son and I speak Spanish decently. We arrived during the power outage to take the ferry to ibiza. We continually asked where do we go? There were herds of people everywhere. We were constantly directed to different people. I finally asked the attendant at the information/security booth and I asked in perfect Spanish albeit with an English accent, where do we line up for our ferry. She stared at me blankly and then said, you speak English. So I switched and said thank you, and she cut me off and said, what do you want? In the rudest most demeaning tone. And then stared at me turned around and told the guy next to me to answer me. The guy who didn’t speak an ounce of English, and made not attempt to just be a little patient. He said something fast and walked away. I had not eaten in 12 hours because restaurants closed and there were no atms working or credit card machines. I was traveling with two children who had walked 3 miles in the heat with suitcases. EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE I encountered in the four hours I waited (we arrived at 4, because they said we could check in at four, which was not true) not one person deviated from a stoic scowl on their face talking to an American. But they were friendly and chummy if there was no English tone to your Spanish. I understand there is anti American sentiment in Europe, but I didn’t behave in any other way than respectful and learned the language and was excited to show my kids the world. The only thing they were able to witness here was how foul humans can be to other humans. It was a recurring theme in Valencia and this experience was par...

Where should I start? 1h30+ late and no explanation whatsoever. We had booked a cabin with 4 beds but the staff hadn’t bothered cleaning it properly (layer of dust everywhere). The thermostat didn’t work and it was so warm that it was impossible to sleep. We ended up sleeping with the door open (noisy!) and me on the floor to catch a tiny bit of air because the temperature at the level of the upper bunkbeds was untenable. There was no warm water in the bathroom. The shower drain was full so the water of the shower spilled into the bathroom. Shortly after departure there was no staff to be seen anymore (and never mind that after finally finding one, he didn’t speak a single word of English, this being a boat with mainly foreign tourists after all..). The staff seemed to find all these problems rather normal (and would it have been too much to expect an apology?).
Moreover the level of maintenance of the cabin was appalling with screws missing in numerous places and broken items here and there.
I fell asleep (on the floor, remember?) without being able to shake the feeling that I had inadvertently embarked my family on a...
Read moreRead a lot of negative reviews about “Ciudad de Alcudia” after I bought the tickets from Valencia to Palma and was really terrified about the future trip. Fortunately, the trip was ok. The ship is old and not very clean, but not as terrible as seems after reading reviews here. The boarding and, then, leaving the ferry is quite long. Seats are affordable for sitting, but comfortable sleeping is harder due to small amplitude of the back (I found it worse than standard plane seat). They are new at one of the armchair areas (not common area near cafe - that was not my fare) and other zone is under renovation. Most of the seats were free (travelled in the middle of the week). Temperature at the sitting area was comfortable, TV and lights were turned off most the time at night so I was able to sleep. Ferry staff was friendly. Free Wi-Fi was also good during...
