Parque Monte do Castro — Attraction in Vigo

At the top of the mountain, right in the middle of the fortress that crowns it, some walls from the 17th century that today are the best vantage point of Vigo and the estuary to the Atlantic Ocean. Within these walls are the castle of O Castro and its gardens, as well as sculptures such as the monument to Vigo by Camilo Nogueira or the tribute to the medieval poet Martín Codax.

Walking down the paths bordering the fortifications towards the historic quarter, you will come to a new vantage point where the Rande Galleons Monument is located.. Enclavado en el centro de Vigo, se encuentra este atractivo espacio público. Se trata de una colina que permite tener visuales panorámicas de la ría de Vigo, zona portuaria, y diferentes zonas que conforman Vigo. Cuenta con una fortificación en su cumbre que se encuentra en buen estado de conservación y mantenimiento. Hay un estanque y jardinería dentro de el que es atractivo para realizar fotos. El entorno del parque cuenta con numerosos lugares de párking gratuito. Existe una cafetería justo en la entrada principal de la fortificación. En el entorno existen también numerosos senderos arbolados, la mayoría de tierra, pero bien mantenidos. Existe un punto de interés histórico-arqueológico con un pequeño castro celta que ocupo una de las laderas. Existe también un parque infantil y una pista asfaltada para que los más peques puedan practicar con sus bicis con total seguridad. Existe también un monumento conmemorativo del final de la guerra civil española y los fallecidos en ella, que ha tenido mejores momentos de conservación, que consiste en una gran cruz, visible en la escalinata que parte frente al Concello de Vigo. Not many parking slots available at the very top (around 3 or 4 as there was some construction going on) but you can always try.

If not there is plenty of parking space nearby.

Lovely view over the harbour and the city, totally worth visiting.
