Overall we expected more from the reviews online. Within minutes of arriving (8:30 pm, not busy) and we spoke in Spanish about our reservation, we were ushered to a table on the bottom floor and asked if we want an English menu. Sure, thank you. When the waiter came back we asked about the tasting menu and he was surprised and questioned us. I wondered if it was only available upstairs but he said no, also downstairs and he brought the menu and read us his brief translation of the dishes quite quickly. I asked to view the menu so I could read them. (We have managed hundreds of times without English menus in many years traveling in Spain.) He hesitated to give it to me—very strange. My husband and I began looking at the Spanish menu and I noticed it had several more a la carte items. Everyone else seated (getting busy) had Spanish menus. I asked why they were different and he said they are exactly the same and I pointed out the differences, which he then said the Spanish menu is outdated and the English menu is correct. Ridiculous! There was never a point he was warm, welcoming, smiling from the moment he shoved the English menus at us as we sat down. We ordered, he brought the wine and did not present it nor have either of us taste it before pouring an inch in each glass and turning away. He never returned, which was better for us.
As for the food, it was good but not fabulous. The foie sandwich was fine, interesting but not great. The mussels with algae were interesting and the most unique dish as it combined briney mussels with olive oil and mild kelp-like algae. The clams in pan were good but nothing unique—very typical. The lamb shoulder was excellent and had a lot of meat but rather traditional in preparation. The chocolate coulant was delicious but not unique (the ice cream was average/not creamy).
During the meal we got over the initial snub by the waiter and enjoyed the meal (and the female waitress was much more pleasant.)
Would not return and I’m sure they don’t care as we were just passing...
Read moreWe’ve been in Spain for a month. Fifth time coming to Spain. We’ve been to Michelin rates restaurants all over the world and in Spain this trip. Incredible service at every single one. I know the “customer is always right” isn’t really a Spanish viewpoint. And I get that. But wow I’ve NEVER felt so poorly treated in a restaurant of this caliber literally ever. Makes me wonder if this just because we are not from Spain and therefore are treated as “lesser”. The waiter (can’t remember his name but he had glasses and a scruff beard) was condescending and rude.
I went for a date night with my husband. The waiter took our order incorrectly. Even though I communicated in Spanish and English, trying to confirm what we ordered. The food was brought and what was supposed to be our grouper with risotto comes out as lamb. The waiter AND chef make a big scene and box us in at the table and basically say “sorry we prepared this you are going to pay for it” so we felt forced to take it. They also went on to say “language barriers make things complicated”. Even though I ordered in Spanish and English. And I speak Spanish lol. I’ve never felt more hostile in a “nice”restaurant in my life. The food was fine (not amazing) but the service and lack of attempt to fix the incorrect order was unacceptable. They blamed the menu wasn’t updated but we ordered in both Spanish and English, and we pointed to what we wanted on the menu. And yes, they still charged for the lamb then had the gall to ask if we still wanted fish after. I guarantee if we had sent the lamb back (not eaten it) and asked for another fish that actually was on the menu tonight, then they would have charged us for both.
I do not recommend. Highly recommend going to visit a restaurant nearby called “Crudeza”. Excellent & friendly...
Read moreVery very disappointed!!!!!!!. Firstly would like to state I have worked at a Michelin guide restaurant in the UK that has very similar menu items as this restaurant. Firstly we arrived and were very quickly seated which is a positive. We then ordered steak tartare and croquettes which were very very good. Unfortunately it was all downhill from there. I'm not sure if it's because we're young or because we are English but our waiter spoke down to us about the menu thinking that we do not know anything about this level of cuisine which we do !! So felt a bit belittled. Secondly and most importantly we were rushed out of the restaurant!!! When we arrived the table next to us had there starters on the table by the time we had sat down . By the time they had recived there mains we had already been served our starter and main and we weren't even eating quickly. To further add to our suspicion our food was cold and we saw it being cooked as we were eating our starters which as far as I'm aware is not common practice at a Michelin guide restaurant. Thirdly the food was just bland. Absolutely tasteless I refuse to believe the clams I ordered for mains were fresh, they were tasteless and overcooked!!! Overall absaloutey shocking I think it's because we were young they assumed we were "poor" and wanted to rush us out the restaurant. In total we were in the restaurant for 45 mins which is ridiculous!!!!. wouldn't recommend to anyone. Waiters were attentive but rude and snobby. Food was bang average at best. Overall awful and extremely disappointing experience as we had high hopes for...
