The **Maritima Museum and Aquarium** in Gothenburg is an absolute delight for both kids and adults! The museum boasts an **impressive collection of historic ship vessels**, giving visitors a fascinating glimpse into maritime history. Walking through the massive ships felt like stepping back in time—truly captivating! The **aquarium section** was the highlight for us, especially for the little ones. The variety of marine life kept my children **thrilled and engaged**—they couldn’t stop talking about the colorful fish, playful seals, and other underwater wonders. The interactive displays and well-maintained tanks made the experience even more enjoyable. What made it even better was how **family-friendly** the entire setup was. The staff was helpful, and the exhibits were designed to keep young minds curious and entertained. If you're visiting Gothenburg with kids (or even as an adult who loves ships and sea life), this place is a **must-visit**. Highly recommended for a fun, educational, and memorable day out!

The Maritime Museum & Aquarium in Gothenburg is an incredible place that beautifully captures the history and wonders of the sea. The exhibitions are thoughtfully curated, offering a deep dive into maritime history with detailed ship models and fascinating stories about human connections with the ocean. The recently renovated aquarium is absolutely stunning, featuring vibrant marine life and one of the largest living coral collections in Europe. It’s both educational and visually captivating, making it perfect for all age groups. The museum’s interactive elements, including talks, children’s activities, and boat tours, make the experience engaging for the whole family. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, adding to the positive experience. Overall, a visit here is not just educational but truly inspiring. Highly recommended for anyone interested in maritime history and ocean life!

This museum has such a wonderful aquarium on the bottom floor of it. A museum dedicated to maritime and the connection between the harbour and Gothenburg being the largest port in Scandinavia. A very fun and engaging museum and something for all ages. Kids and students are free and adults pay 70kr. It’s also included free on the yearly museum visit card. It’s easy to locate and only a few hundred metres away from the closest tram stop which was stigbergstorget.

Always nice to be here, my kids love the aquarium and the play area on the last floor. First time, I tried having lunch here and the restaurant offers nice soup and some salads and snacks. Quite crowded right around lunch time. For those, who don't want to buy food, you have the possibility to bring your own lunch and eat in a nice corner in the highest floor. Can even recommend that version for rainy days with smaller kids!

This used to be my favourite museum but since the renovation it seems to have lost a little of its soul. This includes the cannons outside and the vintage feel. The aquarium which must have cost a lot of money is underwhelming. It’s still okay and probably good fun for boat crazy under 10yos. The cafe was crowded and seemed to be staffed by very young kids who struggled to keep service up.

It’s got all this cool stuff—old ships, stories about captains, everything. It’s really fun to walk around. They even have a little aquarium 🐠, which was a nice surprise and great for the kids. There's a cafe if you need a break, and we found parking nearby, no problem. Honestly, the best part was the special 'Oceanista' fashion exhibit they had. The whole vibe was just amazing! ✨
