The Kultur magasinet was a really relaxed environment, the displays we saw were both interesting and engaging.
At the time of visiting there were three displays, an industrial display regarding the history of industry in Sundsvall.
The second was a display on animals, I don't have children but I imagine this would be one of the better displays for the children to engage with.
The Chief of HÔgom display was awesome, seeing one of the largest burial finds in Norrland was genuinely cool, alespecially with the pieces on display.
At the time also there was a display called Carpe Lucem, The Women Who Caught The Light. It detailed the early stages of photography in Sundsvall and the women who enabled it.
Last but not least is the architecture of the facility itself. There are port warehouses (hence the name, the culture warehouse) four buildings encapsulated within a glass roof which provides an indoor street between the museum and the public library and a small cafe and sitting area in the centre. I loved the design and overall quality of the facility, its well lit, stunning and a great example of well designed architecture that culminates in a phenomenal...
Read moreWe had some time to kill in Sundsvall and decided to check out this museum - what a good decision! Firstly, free entry is appreciated (although the toilets are 5SEK but they're pretty clean so it's understandable), the man at the desk locked our bags away for us, also free of charge. The art gallery has some really beautiful paintings and the history of the city is thorough and interesting with information in English and Swedish. The museum is bigger than expected too which is a nice surprise. The only downside is the collection of artifacts downstairs doesn't have an English description but you can't expect everything to be in English if you're in a country where it's not the...
