Domaine Bovy — Attraction in Chexbres

I made a last minute trip to the area to visit my husband who was on a work trip. We stopped by Montreux Riviera tourism shop. The wonderful woman working in the center called to see if the vineyard had an available reservation. We were told to arrive an hour and 20 minutes later. Upon arrival, we were told by an employee to have a seat inside or outside and wait for the tour. When the hostess arrived, she demeaned us for not having reservations (even though they had been made by the tourism center), not having studied the vineyards in depth, and being from Houston. The host even said, “Houston, we have a problem!” She then told us she wanted us to leave the room, but we could have a glass of wine and sit outside. She poured us each a glass of wine without asking which one we wanted. Upon leaving, we returned the wine glasses and were walking away when the host asked if we were going to pay. We were both confused and asked her how much as we thought the wine was just a concession for not being given the tour. We paid, and she badgered us asking if that was the way it was done in the US… did we not have to pay for what we get? Horrible experience for a so-so...

The winery and the service were wonderful. My husband and I stopped by upon referral for our honeymooon on mid-September late morning. We didn't know they needed reservations for the wine tastings and they were very busy the Saturday late-morning when we visited. However, the owner still allowed us a very quick cellar tour and small tasting. Her husband explained the grapes, we bought a glass of wine each, and then enjoyed the view from their beautiful garden. A most lovely winery to drink wines, to talk about wines, and to enjoy the most beautiful of settings. Your hosts are a delightful and friendly team and the "relaxation factor" is worth the price of admission alone! Delicious, fruity wines that are as beautiful to smell as they are to drink. Such a relaxing afternoon in the most intoxicating of locations... Stop, savor, and take some home with you...or to your next hotel if you're traveling!! Bar none, a wonderful afternoon was had here!
