Located at the Castle of Morges, the Military Museum of Vaud is composed of five connected museums. The first presents a collection of historical weapons and uniforms of Switzerland. The second forty guns presenting the development of artillery. The third houses 10' 000 miniatures retraces the military history of the Pays de Vaud and Switzerland, from the Middle Ages to the Cold War. The fourth presents weapons and uniforms used in the movies especially Star War. The fifth is dedicated to Ignace Paderewski, famous pianist and Polish statesman, inhabitant of Morges for more than 40 years. The castle, was built in the XIIIth century. We were there on Sunday and we were able to enter immediately, and spent two hours just exploring and reading some of the information plates. Read moreAmazing visit that I had for free. Place has one room dedicated to an awesome Polish pianist (nothing amazing), then a basement with many artillery canons, I really loved it. A small exhibit about muskets and medieval clashes, with some high quality comic drawings. The end has a huge military exhibit mostly with uniforms, some guns and another awesome part: minifigures illustrating different conflicts. I really loved that part, it’s a WHOLE big room filled with tiny battlefields, and it was fascinating and very detailed.
There is also a tower accessible to check what a gunner’s view was. The visit would last around 30 minutes for a casual visitor. Very good...

You can learn everything about the wars fought against the French, both in real and through miniatures. You can also go back to the 1950-ies and 60-ies and see how the cantonal police were chasing crooks on their Royal Enfield or Harley Davidson motorcycles. Besides the permanent exhibitions there is at present, end of November 2024, two expositions, one on the famous Polish pianist Paderewski and the other one how to defend ourselves against all sorts of violent attacks, from environmental to war.
