Hengchun Night Market — Attraction in Hengchun

Totally not worth it, unless you are within walking distance, and that there is absolutely no better choices of night markets during your stay in Taiwan. We took taxi back and forth from our hotel in Kenting for the Hengchun night market, (mind you, we did first try to take the buses but they didn't stop at the stops as they should), taxi here hackle prices, FYI. It's not a small night market, food here is nothing special nor tasty, it is cheaper, but run-down, slow, and very dirty. For instance, the famous Wang's steaks by the sea goddess temple with long waiting line, the eating area is right next to some recycling piles, and the so-called washed and "clean" utensils are still with noodles and food particles on them. Yes, it's more of a traditional night market. and yes, it's cheap, but the food is nothing special nor good, and too dirty. One of the most disappointing night markets I've ever been to in Taiwan, will not go again, will not recommend. There are way more better night...

Awesome! IMO best night market in Taiwan so far (we’re going clockwise from Taipei, I think it’s #10 we visited so far.

Very local, only on SUNDAY (weird 1 star review of a guy that was here on a Saturday, make sure you do your homework). Very easy cheap parking nearby, just on the street, for ideas see Google maps.

So far the only night market I’ve seen where you can put sushi in a box and just pay at the end. Same for bakery goods, candy etc etc. I had an oyster omelette, it swam in sauce but I think that’s the idea? Me and my husband also both had a steak with udon noodles and an egg for only 110 ntd each. Two drinks (yakult lemon tea with 2 yakult and a green lemon tea) for 90 ntd. 3 pastries 🥮 for 100 ntd. Basically everything is a steal!!

Compared to kenting night market I’ve really enjoyed the atmosphere here. Way calmer, more locals, less tourists. All in all top quality food, just beware some people don’t...
