Location : beside the Kaohsiung main post office, Formosa Boulevard MRT station exit 5.
When I first came to Kaohsiung 20 odd years ago, this place was bustling and trendy and a treasure trove of exciting finds in clothes, shoes, accessories.
Nowadays, although upgraded with a lively mural that pops at the Jungjeng road entrance and beautiful changing lights on the ceiling, it is much quieter with a lot of vacant stalls. Note though that attached pictures were taken a week day visit, so more stalls will be open on weekends.
However, there are still lots of great choices for inexpensive bargain footwear, not so trendy clothing, food and drink stalls. The prices are comparable to online sellers with the advantage of seeing and trying on what catches your eye.
Dance costumes, traditional Chinese dresses, elegant gowns can also be found here as well as a textile shop, curtain maker and sexy, suggestive clothing.
There is also a cobbler who can do shoe repairs and a shop that sells upscale luggage that advertises luggage repair!
Hard to find elsewhere, traditional practitioners of cosmetology like threading, waxing, manicure and pedicure, cheap facials are still here😀
The seller of the QQ (fried sweet potato) balls is still in his corner slot, the fruit seller (cut, ready to eat as well as whole fruit) is still there as well as the stalls selling various cooked to order foods.
Would I come back here? Definitely YES! While I like the quiet and lack of bustle, i pray and hope business improves and we don’t lose this old style night market that has so much more character and charm than the trendy malls and online shops.
Parking lot is available at the Jungshan/Minsheng corner as well as some street parking.

Read moreIt was a rainy Tuesday evening, but we found the items on offer to be a small selection of clothing mainly that pretty much repeated on every stall. Plus it was like taking your life in your hands very minute or so numerous scooters would whizz through at high speed, so you had to keep right to the edge to avoid being run over, and if you wanted to look at a stall on the other side again you had to wait until no scooters were coming and there were a LOT of scooters!!! I definitely wouldn’t recommend not go...
Read moreIt was so ridiculously crowded the night I went there and according to my Uncle, it was already less crowded than usual. Most of the stores there weren't really that special so I don't know what all the hype was about lol. There was one store that I really liked though. A young lady was selling some really nice female clothes that were elegant and relatively good quality but most importantly, they were really cheap. Only 300 NTD each for the tops...
