We went as a family of 6 (3 adults, 1 senior and 2 kids aged 7 and 8), brought a hiking stick as well which helped immensely. Did plenty of stops at the various pavilions taking pictures and with breaks in between, including a 45 minute rest at the cafe. Spent a total of 3 hours so it can easily be done in half the time. There was also a large group of local tour group of Taiwanese retirees hiking.
Not easiest climb but the views are absolutely spectacular and worth it!
The stairs and roads are very well maintained so it's generally very safe.
Started from the port and ended at the primary school. If you start at the port, it's a steep climb up with steps immediately, gentler up a slope if you start at the primary school. Either way, it is a loop. There is parking there in the area at the start/end that you will have to walk abit to get to the start.
There is a cafe at the midway point that you have to walk down a good amount of steps and come up again to continue the trail.
Bring lots of sunscreen and sun protection!!! Ideally, a UV umbrella as well.
There are seafood restaurants at the base where you can have lunch...
Read moreA trail is mainly on stairs and boardwalk, no muddy path. There is only 1 toilet throughout the trail. The number of steps, up and down, is very manageable even from those who hardly exercise. The view is awesome! You will enjoy the sea view and the mountain view, best of both worlds!
The path is a dead end at the cafe which is fast to reach in less than 1000 steps. On the left of the stairs going down to the cafe will lead you to a longer and more beautiful trail which ends in the harbour area.
The trail takes less than 2 hours, can be completed in less than 1 hour if keep moving on. We did the trail under light drizzle condition and it is still safe and the view remains good. Make sure you go down to enjoy the harbour view, waves splashing on the rocks after your descend.
It’s not exactly a loop back trail to the starting point but the end point is about one bus stop...
Read moreMy second time walking around the trail, smiling even though tiring to walk up and down the stairs of the mountain but it is mamazingly relaxing.
