Hiked September 5, 2024. The hike took my wife and I about 2 hours to complete from the gold mining museum bus stop (including the walk through town to the beginning of the trail). We stopped for photos along the way so it could potentially be done in 1.5 hours but I recommend taking your time as the scenery is beautiful. The very top of the mountain is currently closed due to rocks falling but we did see some other people up there anyway. There are multiple entrances and routes to hike to the top but we chose to take the stairs. There is quite a few stairs and about 85% of the trail is stairs if you choose that route. There is a paved road you can walk up as well that leads to the final 300-400 meters (we saw people driving scooters up there as well but not sure about cars). The final ascent is a mix of stone steps, wooden steps and dirt/rock pathway. Make sure to bring a hat/umbrella/sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun as there is no shade in the final portion. Make sure to try the delicious tofu pudding place at the bottom of the trail when you are done hiking, you won’t regret it. The location details are in the pictures but it is called Top Douhua, but that does not help when using...

Walked up the road from Jinguashi Gold Temple Museum on a hot summer's day. You can get an amazing view of the Yinyang Sea on this trail.

After climbing up many steps and using a rope to haul yourself up to the summit, enjoy a cool break in the shelter of the rock formation at the top. The rocks are curiously placed with many paths to cross the summit, following which you can go down towards Banpingshan.

I spent a good half an hour exploring the various rocks on the summit – it's like a giant playground – watch your step!

Regrettably I didn't have time to go on to Banpingshan this trip, so I took the path round the side of the mountain to get back to the trail down back to the foot of the mountain.

There are many loose rocks near the summit, so be careful especially in rainy weather. Wearing good hiking shoes will also help you avoid injuries!

Very beautiful hike – worth taking a night or two in Jiufen to see these mountains. On a clear day, you will be able to see Mt Keelung and the ridgeline...

Buetifull scenery and sounds on a buetifull day, i saw some baby deer or something.

two sections. 1 starts at the community near geological park is quick and steep and goes to teapot mountain. 2 is the dangerous part for confident/stupid people, I think it is illegal/not recommended, some parts it is walking on sharp stones on a cliff, if you where to trip it's possible to fall down the mountain.

if you go that way you can do a circle if you don't want to go back down the steep sections. the end half of the circle is good and has nice secondary roads at the top of the mountain nice for walking or driving also has another trail near the muesum I think which completes the circle I did.

would not recommend taking dogs on the 2nd harder route. would require you climbing with one hand and elevating them up vertical sections, would be really hard going back down. I would not take them to that section again but I would go back there's a lot of other good places I haven't...

I started at the gold museum and did a loop trail that takes in Mt Teapot and 2 further peaks. The trail starts and ends with staircases which can be a complete pain. The route through the cave at Mt. teapot was closed but a work around had been put in place which involved a skinny path and guide ropes to keep you from sliding down the side of the mountain. The views are spectacular of Mt Keelung and the bay and a good mix of different types of fauna and flora line the route. I would say the trail is moderate to easy without any needs for specialist mountaineering equipment or skills but I would treat some sections with respect. Take a good map or GPS device as the route can be a little difficult to spot in some sections. I felt a good sense of accomplishment and was very glad to have had the opportunity to walk this trail. On sunny days take a hat as there is little cover.
