A Thoroughly Disastrous Safari Experience – Avoid at All Costs!

I recently had the misfortune of booking a safari in Tanzania through this so-called “organiser,” and let me tell you, it was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. While they miraculously arranged the trip in just two days and very quickly calculated and pocketed an inflated deposit, that’s about where the “pros” end.

Bait-and-Switch Pricing

The basic safari offer was overpriced by at least 20% compared to other providers. The trip to the waterfalls and Chemka Hot Springs came with an outrageous 150% mark-up. I still can’t figure out how they justified that cost. On top of that, they slapped on an additional fee for transfers—twice. Once in the safari price, and then again for the extra day of touring. You’d think they’d at least try to hide the double charge better!

Passing You Off to Someone Else

After all the confusion and inflated costs, they just handed me off to a different operator once I arrived. Ironically, the second operator—Avocet Tanzania Safaris—was great (I’ll be sure to leave a positive review for them on their site), but why on earth was I forced to deal with an overpriced middleman first?

Terrible Accommodation

They booked me into the dismal Senator Hotel in Arusha. The place was so bad that on my last day I moved to another hotel that offered a far better standard at a fraction of the cost. Clearly, the original choice was just a lazy or exploitative pick.

Extorted for Lunch

The so-called “guide” responsible for the final day of the trip (the day that was already overpriced by 150%) had the nerve to charge me an absurd 20 EUR for a simple lunch. Then, as if that wasn’t enough, the cook literally chased us down on a motorcycle demanding more money, claiming we had settled incorrectly. Meanwhile, I had just watched them split my lunch payment among themselves moments before.

Ignored Complaints

After this chaotic experience, I filed a complaint. Shockingly (or maybe not), both Mr. Emmanuel and the self-titled CEO, Jack, outright ignored my concerns. They conveniently refuse to share their full names in any communication or on their mysterious website—probably too ashamed to own up to their disreputable business practices.

Our group of 21 climbers from Switzerland joined the 7-day Kilimanjaro climb with Tanzania Adventures Group from September 14 to 20, and it was one of the most rewarding experiences of our lives! From the very first briefing, everything was well organized, and the entire team worked with outstanding professionalism and care.

The guides were exceptional very experienced, patient, and always motivating us to keep going at the perfect pace. They explained everything clearly, from daily altitude tips to safety checks. The assistant guides and porters were truly amazing strong, kind, and full of good energy. They carried our gear, set up the tents before we arrived, and made sure we were always comfortable.

The food was excellent, with hot, fresh meals every day even at high altitude! Our cook made sure we ate well to stay strong. The entire crew treated us like family, celebrating every milestone together, from the first camp to the summit at Uhuru Peak.

Reaching the top of Africa was emotional beyond words watching the sunrise above the clouds was pure magic. This experience was perfectly managed, safe, and full of team spirit. I’m extremely disappointed and frustrated with this company. I paid a high amount because they promised me a private car, but they put me in a shared vehicle with other people who paid $200 less than I did. I clearly told them I didn’t want a private car, and they insisted that “we only offer private safaris” — which turned out to be completely false. I messaged them many times asking for a refund of the price difference, and they completely ignored me. No reply. No respect. This is nothing but a greedy and unprofessional company that just wants to take your money and disappear. I trusted them, and they took advantage of that. Do not book with them. Worst experience ever....
