Kad KongTa (Kong Ta Market) is a good place to visit on Saturday and Sunday evenings. You can find ready-to-eat food stalls on both sides of the street call Tanon Talad kao (Old Market Street), good NY Pizza house on the left side, hand-pressed coffee, home made sour dough bread and good cakes on small lanes, right-handside, off the main market street.
There are also restaurants and pubs where you can sit and eat properly at the further end of the market street. Most of them are riverside places.
The market starts from 4.30 pm.- 10.00 pm. (Sat and Sun)
I like grilled 5-10 thb. beef, pork or local sausage (saikrok isan aka:sour sausage)on a stick, blood soup noodle, 7 thb.young chilli tempura assorted with minced chicken or pork. Somkriang orange juice on ice which is from local orange, gives sour and sweet, so refreshing. Soft boiled eggs, cooked in spring water served with special sauces you can choose as you like. There are also Korean, Japanese, Western and middle eastern snacks as well as local Lampang food to choose from.
Besides food, there are 2nd hand goods sold from the 90's under Rassada Bridge (you see white chickens in front of it). You can slao find lanna style cotton clothes, silver ornaments, lanna style old swords, pot plants, art galleries, beautiful colonial and lanna style houses with information board to read and souvenir shops along this street.
Oh, there is 1-2 massage shops, they offer reasonable prices, the aunty who works there use special massaging tools, like big wooden sticks to press on your body. I have never seen this before but it's a great relief after 1 hour. massage. The aunties at the shops know well how to give a good massage.
This night market offers reasonable price, no double standard for foreigners or tourists. No sexual places or drugs here. Good for family with kids and those who look for really local atmosphere. It's a walking street, so no cars are...
Read moreWe absolutely loved this weekend night market! It is located in the beautiful lampang walking street which has lovely architecture! We came here hungry and ended up leaving very full. There is a lot of food here. We personally loved these fresh cut and battered chips with cheese seasoning, they were the best chips ever! We also love all the options to get Thai sausages or meat on a stick. The prices are very good, it is quite busy here which is expected.
