Wat Chiang Rai — Attraction in เทศบาลนครลำปาง

Do not to be confused. 😆 Wat Chiang Rai is not in Chiang Rai but in Lampang province.

It is said that a member of the ruling monarchy family was born in Chiang Rai and decided to build a white temple and name it Wat Chiang Rai.

While not obvious in my photos, the temple has parts under renovation. The building beside the temple has monks living inside as well as statues of past monks there.

Disney meets Buddha…. An impressive effort but not sure it’s worth the pollution inhaled to get here:( DONT Come in burning season -March-May, like I did even tho I was warned!) no where near as impressive as authentic temples. วัดเชียงราย ตั้งอยู่บนถนนบ้านเชียงราย ตำบลสวนดอก อำเภอเมืองลำปาง จังหวัดลำปาง ใกล้กับห้าแยกหอนาฬิกาและแม่น้ำวัง วัดสีขาวงามวิจิตรบรรจงแห่งนี้ สร้างขึ้นเมื่อปี พ.ศ.2200 โดยเจ้าพระยามหาโยธานราธิบดีศรีพิไชยณรงค์ หรือพระยาเจ่ง ผู้เป็นต้นตระกูลคชเสนีฝ่ายเหนือได้ส่งพระยาชมภู บุตรชาย ร่วมกับญาติทางมารดา ซึ่งเป็นเจ้านายฝ่ายเหนือตระกูลขัติ เชียงราย ก่อสร้างหมู่บ้านและวัดเชียงรายขึ้น เพื่อเป็นเกียรติประวัติแก่วงศ์ตระกูลชาวเชียงราย และได้รับพระราชทานวิสุงคามสีมาในปี พ.ศ. 2457 อนุรักษ์รูปแบบของวิหารหลังเดิม ซึ่งเป็นศิลปะล้านนาประยุกต์กับศิลปะภาคกลางไว้ทั้งหมด บูรณะแล้วเสร็จเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2555 พร้อมกับได้พัฒนากุฏิของพระเทพวิสุทธิโสภณ อดีตเจ้าอาวาส ให้เป็นพิพิธภัณฑ์ เพื่อเป็นแหล่งศึกษาเรียนรู้เกี่ยวกับวัฒนธรรม และการบำเพ็ญสาธารณประโยชน์ของอดีตเจ้าอาวาสในแต่ละสมัย ที่ได้พัฒนา และสร้างความเจริญรุ่งเรืองให้กับวัด รวมทั้งเป็นศูนย์รวมจิตใจของพุทธศาสนิกชนผู้มีจิตศรัทธา ภายในวิหารประดิษฐานพระประธาน ซึ่งเป็นพระพุทธรูปปางประทานพร ด้านหน้าวิหารเป็นที่ตั้งของเจดีย์ทรงระฆังแบบล้านนา รายล้อมไปด้วยเจดีย์สีทอง 12 นักษัตรและพระพุทธรูปด้านทิศใต้เป็นพระพุทธรูปปางมารวิชัย...
