I’m not really good at writing reviews much, but I feel like this restaurant is my reason to come back to Lampang, so I would love to contribute.
They are like a well-oiled machine, very efficient and extremely polite. When I visited for a second time it was busy and people were waiting but they took me to my table within 5 minutes (it looked very busy with local people, but as I do not speak Thai, I cannot tell if they are local or not, but they are certainly Thai people who were queueing).
I am not Thai and I do not speak Thai, bit they are used to tourists and there is an English menu. The lady who greets you speaks very good English, so you do not have to worry about it.
The menu: they have a wide range of food from spicy salad to stir fried stuff, and I’ve never seen many of them in other cities. Maybe if you are Thai, you would know where to get these things but a foreigner, I never had an opportunity to order many things on the menu- for a Thai food fanatic, it was great.
The price is ranged from 30 bahts to 100, but majority of food was around 50-70. I ordered a lot of starters which are 30 bahts, I struggled walking after stuffing myself with their delicious food.
They are famous for their one baht boiled rice (something between congee and steamed rice, but more watery), but honestly, if you are in Lampang, it is definitely worth a go. I am definitely coming back.
Just for a record, I ordered about 5 dishes and a large bottle of Singha beer and it was less than 300 bahts. I eat a lot and this can be shared with two people easily.
Hope you enjoy this...
Read moreEnvironment: The restaurant is set in a large two-story wooden house, with old price lists and vintage photos hanging on the walls. The dining tables are cleverly made from repurposed sewing machines, and there are also outdoor seating areas. The surroundings are quiet. If you’re looking for a lively place with a nostalgic atmosphere, this spot is a great choice.
Service: You write down your own order, and the food comes out incredibly fast. When I visited, the restaurant was nearly full, but from placing my order to having all the dishes served at once took less than ten minutes. Very efficient service.
Taste: The Tom Yum soup was excellent, with authentic flavor and fresh fish that had no unpleasant smell. This was my favorite dish. However, the stir-fried seafood was disappointing. Surprisingly, they used frozen shrimp, and the seasoning was bland — definitely a failed dish. The stir-fried vegetables, on the other hand, had good wok hei (that smoky stir-fry aroma). The portion sizes were generally small, but I can understand this as part of their business strategy to keep prices attractive.
Overall, you can think of this place as a fast-casual restaurant with a charming atmosphere and plenty of choices, but it’s best not to set your expectations too high when it...
Read moreJust go and experience this place! Fantastic vegetarian meal. I’ve spent over 2 years in Thailand and these have been some of my favorite meals. As we waited in the short but quick moving queue, a local walking out told us to stay in line because it was worth it. We waited about 5 minutes for a table during prime time on a Saturday. The owner/host was very warm and welcoming.
Service was so efficient. Despite the large space and activity of all the staff, it still has a quieter vibe and we never felt rushed to leave.
As vegetarians, sometimes we have to sacrifice flavor at restaurants or have limited options. They have dedicated vegetarian options and we were bummed we couldn’t try them all.
The fried morning glory with the dipping sauce is something I will dream about. Curry fried tofu and the cauliflower dish were excellent.
Our meal so was incredible we came back the next night and it was just as good as the first time.
Do yourself a favor and visit. It’s a great experience with more locals than tourists and a great...
