Disappointed by how rude the pier worker was to us. We had a one hour transfer here on the way to Koh Lanta. A lady (or so it seemed) agressively approached us demanding cash. My wife had unknowingly wandered past her, and she snapped or borderline yelled at her. When we said no about being shook down, she pointed to a sign about a conservation fee being collected from all tourists. We said we just wanted to eat some food while we waited for our ferry, and she snapped back saying "no you pay right now!" She seemed to have contempt for tourists as she patronized us. She presented herself as the enemy and triggered my flight-or-fight response, which was the last thing I was expecting at such a beautiful island. We've been to many exotic locations, and you're generally greeted by welcoming people, not an angry ladyboy with a moustache. I don't speak the language but could tell the group of ladies were cursing and mocking us. Instead of making a scene or supporting the locals by spending money feeding our hungry bellies, we sat on the pier with a terrible impression. I imagine this is how locals generally view the tourists. While waiting, I observed that Phi Phi is paved paradise, kind of like a Disney experience, full of fake authenticity. Clearly we made the right choice by not staying here, but I do hope these women can learn some grace...

Nestled on the stunning shores of Ao Ton Sai Pier, this coastal gem is a gateway to adventure and relaxation. The pier's vibrant atmosphere sets the stage for an unforgettable experience. From the moment you arrive, you're greeted by the rhythmic sounds of lapping waves and the salty sea breeze, creating a sense of tranquility.

Ao Ton Sai Pier serves as a bustling hub, connecting travelers to the picturesque islands of the region. The lively scene is complemented by an array of charming shops and eateries, offering a taste of local flavors and unique souvenirs. As you stroll along the wooden planks, the panoramic views of turquoise waters and towering limestone cliffs paint a mesmerizing backdrop.

The pier also serves as a convenient starting point for island-hopping excursions, making it a strategic location for those eager to explore the wonders of the Andaman Sea. Whether you're an avid adventurer or a laid-back sunseeker, Ao Ton Sai Pier is the perfect launchpad for your maritime escapades.

In conclusion, Ao Ton Sai Pier encapsulates the essence of tropical paradise and serves as a gateway to unforgettable moments. I have visited this place for Scuba Activity. Multiple centres who offer this activity here. The rate for Scuba here is 1800 Baht (as on 27th Dec.'23) plus 1200 Baht for Video recording. The scuba experience is just 3-4 meters below sea level and it is on or very near to the pier only. It was an awesome experience. If you are doing it for the 1st time then you should else it is not any different (infect some of Scuba activities offered at mid sea level by some other agencies at Phuket). Overall good on so many fish and corals are visible. Video recording given to you in SD card within the same cost.

Edit as on 29th Dec.'23: Today I have opened that SD Card in which there are a total of 254 files including 03 videos and rest of the photos. To my surprise there is not even a single photo or video where I can find any fish!! We have seen it during Scuba but in the photo and video it has not been captured. While handing over the SD card to me, she showed it in F/F mode so I didn't realize this issue. What a waste of money done by these people.

So either do not go here for scuba or else pay only after you see video and photos as per your...

You arrive at Ton sai Pier on Phi phi and since it is a Pier you hardly find good beach time here. Ton sai is way more commercial and rightly so as this is where the pier is. We arrived here at Ton sai pier from Phuket via Phi Phi cruiser Ferry which started at 9am at Phuket and reached here around 11.30am. The pier is clean. There is an entry fee of 20 baht which is collected by the government to keep phi phi clean. The hotel/resort staffs are usally at the pier to collect your luggage and move you to the hotel. There are no ticket counters here for one to book Ferry/speedboat to Phuket or krabi directly and there is one official stall for this purpose but the staff there demands double the price for the same ferry ticket. If you want to book ferry/speedboat or Tour tickets, then the best option is to check around with various tour travels agencies near the pier and book through them. Fortunately we found a lady at a tour agency who offered us ferry ticket for 400 baht to reach Krabi the next day where as the staff at the pier stall asked us 700baht for the same ticket. Bargaining for everything here is the only norm.

Small pier of Phi Phi island, from where you can take a boat to Phuket or other destination. Also it is the pier for small "island boats" that cruise around the island and nearest locations. Some tips: 1. You will need a little cash to pay for entering of Phi–Phi, some kind of tax payment; 2. If you will live in the hotel that is far enough to go there by foot, after exiting boat, do not try to rent boat yourself. There is big chance that your hotel provide free taxi service on day of check-in, try to find guy with plate and your hotel name on it (it also must have paper with your name in it from booking); 3. Do not buy tickets in advance, at least not in the high season, there is plenty tickets available to buy even on day of departure, just arrive in advance; 4. Last but not least, if you wanna get ride to Maya Bay or may be to some other island nearby, just come here and ask boat drivers can they drive you there. May be it will not be much cheaper, but you will have private boat and can have much better time and experience.

Ao Ton Sai Pier is the main gateway to Phi Phi Island and a must-experience spot for every visitor. The location is perfectly connected, giving you easy access to all parts of the island — from here, you can hop on a traditional long-tail boat to explore other beautiful beaches and hidden places around Phi Phi. The pier area is lively and well-organized, surrounded by a great variety of exchange stores, clothing shops, souvenir stalls, and convenience stores like 7-Eleven for snacks, drinks, and essentials. There are also plenty of cafes and fast food restaurants such McDonald’s and Burger king, including The Coffee Club, which I consider the best coffee spot on the island for its quality drinks and fast service. Whether you’re arriving, departing, or just passing through, Ao Ton Sai Pier offers everything you need in one place — transportation, shopping, food, and a vibrant island vibe. A perfect first stop to start your Phi Phi adventure!
