Disappointed by how rude the pier worker was to us. We had a one hour transfer here on the way to Koh Lanta. A lady (or so it seemed) agressively approached us demanding cash. My wife had unknowingly wandered past her, and she snapped or borderline yelled at her. When we said no about being shook down, she pointed to a sign about a conservation fee being collected from all tourists. We said we just wanted to eat some food while we waited for our ferry, and she snapped back saying "no you pay right now!" She seemed to have contempt for tourists as she patronized us. She presented herself as the enemy and triggered my flight-or-fight response, which was the last thing I was expecting at such a beautiful island. We've been to many exotic locations, and you're generally greeted by welcoming people, not an angry ladyboy with a moustache. I don't speak the language but could tell the group of ladies were cursing and mocking us. Instead of making a scene or supporting the locals by spending money feeding our hungry bellies, we sat on the pier with a terrible impression. I imagine this is how locals generally view the tourists. While waiting, I observed that Phi Phi is paved paradise, kind of like a Disney experience, full of fake authenticity. Clearly we made the right choice by not staying here, but I do hope these women can learn some grace...

Read moreI have visited this place for Scuba Activity. Multiple centres who offer this activity here. The rate for Scuba here is 1800 Baht (as on 27th Dec.'23) plus 1200 Baht for Video recording. The scuba experience is just 3-4 meters below sea level and it is on or very near to the pier only. It was an awesome experience. If you are doing it for the 1st time then you should else it is not any different (infect some of Scuba activities offered at mid sea level by some other agencies at Phuket). Overall good on so many fish and corals are visible. Video recording given to you in SD card within the same cost.
Edit as on 29th Dec.'23: Today I have opened that SD Card in which there are a total of 254 files including 03 videos and rest of the photos. To my surprise there is not even a single photo or video where I can find any fish!! We have seen it during Scuba but in the photo and video it has not been captured. While handing over the SD card to me, she showed it in F/F mode so I didn't realize this issue. What a waste of money done by these people.
So either do not go here for scuba or else pay only after you see video and photos as per your...
