I stayed at Phi Phi at Pier Hotel for one night on 18 July and checked out early on 19 July for a diving trip. I left my luggage with the hotel and, after returning from my dive, I asked if I could use a transit room for just 1 hour to shower and freshen up before catching my ferry. The front desk lady informed me it would cost 1,000 baht, which I was perfectly fine with. I told her I’d go for lunch first and return afterward.
When I came back after lunch, the same staff member checked with the manager, Mark, and then told me there were no rooms available due to full occupancy. However, both Booking.com and Agoda still showed rooms available. When I questioned this, she insisted all rooms had been checked in — which clearly didn’t match what was showing online.
Eventually, she told me that the manager, Mark, simply did not allow the usage of the room. What was even more frustrating was that he never came out to explain anything — he just hid behind his office desk and left the counter lady to deal with me. I had been a paying guest just the night before and was even willing to pay the 1,000 baht for a short transit use, yet I was treated with zero respect or consideration.
To be fair, the female front desk staff were friendly and polite, and I don’t blame them. But this entire experience was ruined by the poor attitude of the manager, Mark. In the end, I had to wash up and repack my luggage at the hotel lobby, feeling dirty and uncomfortable before leaving the island.
This is not the way to treat a guest. No flexibility, no professionalism, and shocking lack of basic hospitality from management. I will definitely not return and do not recommend this...
Read moreSo far, so good. I’ve got two more days to go, so I’ll update if necessary.
I love this hotel. It’s quiet, but close enough to all the fun & shopping. One minute walk from Tonsai Pier. The room is impressively clean and gorgeous. The air conditioning works great. Just give it ten minutes after you come in from the heat to really kick in. The bed is so comfortable & they have the perfect pillows. I might see if I can buy one when I check out. The tv is gigantic & you can log into your Disney, Amazon, HBO Max, etc. accounts, the shower has two heads, the toilet is in a separate space, and the bidet nozzle is different. It’s kind of fancy. The view from the balcony is breathtaking. The couch and love seat are really nice when you want to look outside but stay in the air conditioning (or to read or whatever). There are PLENTY of light switches, which is really nice. The whole staff is very friendly and accommodating. If you need help with your bags going upstairs, there is a call button & they’ll run down and help you. So, yes, there are stairs. That means no wheelchair, walker, etc. accessibility. Unfortunate, but it kind of looks like they may be putting in an elevator. We’ll see. That would be nice. Overall, yes, I love this place so much. The only thing, besides handicapable accessibility, would be a larger fridge. I got a bunch of drinks and chocolates from 711 & there’s not much room to put everything because the mini fridge is already stocked with drinks you...
Read moreThe pier was as expected for this location, extremely crowded. We took a longboat to Bamboo Island, but the experience was awful. As soon as we stepped off the speedboat from Phuket to Phi Phi, we were charged 80 Baht (20 per person) for some sort of tax. Then, locals aggressively pressured us to take a longboat. We agreed and decided to head to Bamboo Island. The driver, let's call him "Natasha," initially quoted us 4,000 Baht, but we negotiated it down to 3,200. He told us the trip would take 1.5 hours each way and that he’d pick us up at 2 PM to ensure we’d make it back in time to catch the speedboat to Phuket at 5 PM (4:30 PM for check-in).
In reality, the ride only took 45 minutes, meaning we could’ve stayed on a paradise island at least an hour longer. This was our first clue we’d been misled. Once everyone and our luggage were on the boat, he demanded an additional 400 Baht for “parking” at the island. I was ready to get off, but my wife convinced me to pay. Fine.
Midway to the island, he hit us with yet another surprise, a 1,200 Baht fee (400 per adult, child free) just to step onto the island. At that point, we were already in the middle of the ocean, having paid him 3,600 Baht, so what choice did we have? Frustrated, we scraped together the additional 1,200 Baht, but the mood was completely ruined.
In the end, 2.5 hours of snorkeling cost us a whopping 4,800 Baht. It was a...
