I didn’t feel ‘safe’ as a woman. There’s a LOT of groups of males tourists (without being too specific) and I felt very leered and stared at the entire time we were briefly there - and I hadn’t even changed into just my swimwear yet either (not that a woman’s attire should matter on a beach!). My partner was with me also, I can only imagine how much worse the experience could have been if I was looking to relax on a beach alone. It was very creepy!!! He picked up on the seedy vibes immediately too and we left after a few minutes of going up and down the beach front.
As for the beach itself, it looks beautiful from the viewpoint before you reach it, but it’s a cesspit when you go down there. There’s no “nice” real brunch/food spots (aside from Vibe bar at the opposite end). It’s a bunch of curry shops, dirty stalls and lots of umbrellas and sunbeds clustered in one long strip. There’s also a litter problem and it just smells bad in general.
There’s stray dogs all over this island, but it can be difficult with them on the beach because they will hover for food and water. I love dogs and I feel for them, but you never know how reactive strays can be, so it’s best to keep a distance.
Bottom line - go to other beaches. None are particularly amazing, but either Nual or Ta Yai is quieter/doesn’t have as many hordes of creepy male tourists knocking about.
Also you have to pay about 100baht for sunbeds on...

But the investment is definitely a HUGE yes. Koh Larn reminds us of a hideaway or a haven, far away from the city's hustle and bustle.
🏝 First off, it took us by surprised by how "jaw-dropping-ly" clear the water is. You can see fishes swimming just right above sand level at ease.
🐾 I don't know why but dogs are EVERYWHERE all over the beach. And they are familiar with the people so they don't bite or bark at all, very chill, living their own world. Fun fact: We came across a sleeping dog, mostly covered in sand underneath our chair, without releasing it later. Thailand is a very pet-friendly country I suppose.
🥥 The weather was blazing hot so we stopped by a vendor to take coconut juice. Fresh + sweet + natural + cool, highly recommend everyone try.
☀️ BEWARE OF THE SUN. Wear suncreens or any skin protection means you have available. Though it might not be too hot, since we're near the ocean, but the UV is as high as ever. Make sure to bring hats as well to avoid the dizziness caused by the sun.
Overall, the only drawback is the sun but you should be able to expect that because we're on an island... Besides that, great trip...
