The decor and vibe was 5 star, but otherwise I had a bad experience. After walking up and down the road for an hour trying to decide where to get my last massage in Thailand, after having 5 or 6 throughout the week and 1 earlier during the day, I finally decided to pick Baan Sawan based on its high google review rating and reviews.
I was welcomed by a pushy lady who was trying to get me inside. I had already decided I was going in, but wanted to see what was on the menu and checkout the prices which I had read were higher than average. I told the lady I wanted a leg massage, focussing on glutes, hamstrings and quads. On the menu there was a Foot and Leg Thai Compression Massage for 650 THB which I asked about, and she confirmed that would hit the spots I needed. I then went inside.
Inside I was handed over to another lady, who was responsible for coordinating clients and arranging masseuse and rooms etc. I told her I wanted a leg massage, and showed her on my legs where I wanted massaged (glutes, hamstrings and quads). She said ok and took me through to a waiting room.
In the waiting room another lady came to greet me, and took me to a feet washing chair. There I sat and waited for another lady to come and wash my feet.
The foot washing lady knelt on the floor awkwardly, and began washing my feet. She asked if I wanted a foot massage and I said ok but I need a leg massage too. She finished washing my feet and took me upstairs.
Upstairs she showed me to a reclining chair. On the chair a man helped me recline. I said are you sure this is a leg massage (because I was expecting to lie on a bed), and was reassured that yes it was.
After 20-25min of a very average foot massage, sitting there getting frustrated that I had wasted my last night in Koh Samui for this, I decided that something was wrong and I wasn’t getting the massage I wanted. I almost left mid massage, but let her finish. Overall it was an average massage, probably one of the worst I’ve ever had, and certainly the worst I’ve had in Thailand.
I told the lady downstairs who was coordinating clients etc that I was very disappointed and didn’t get what I wanted, and she didn’t seem to care.
I obviously can’t comment on the other masseurs or massages, maybe they are fine, but my experience wasn’t good. Having to deal with 5 different people was over the top and I’m quite sure this is why I didn’t get the massage I wanted. Given the inflated prices and issues with communication, this place is overrated...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting the new Ban Sawan Spa not once, but twice, and I must say that both experiences were absolutely amazing! The first time, I opted for a one-and-a-half-hour Thai Oil massage downstairs, and it exceeded all my expectations. The entire ambiance of the spa was delightful, and the staff were not only professional but also incredibly friendly. The massage itself was truly out of this world, with my masseur demonstrating exceptional skill and applying the perfect amount of pressure.
On my second visit, I brought along a close friend, and we decided to indulge in the aroma oil massage, which took place upstairs in one of their private double rooms. Once again, I was treated to an exceptionally good massage. In fact, I can confidently say that it ranks among the top 10 massages I've experienced over the years (and there have been quite a few!).
Overall, the Ban Sawan Spa has left a lasting impression on me with their remarkable service, serene atmosphere, and talented therapists. I highly recommend this spa to anyone seeking an unforgettable and rejuvenating...
Read moreLove, love, LOVE this spa! It’s new, with modern interiors, bright and airy, very clean and run by a wonderful, friendly and soft-spoken manager, Miss Suda. A sense of calm envelops you as soon as you enter its doors. I absolutely love how they start each guests with a foot soak in warm water and rose petals, afterwhich they gently scrub any impurities away, patting our feet dry before we slip on in-house sandals and glide our way up a spiral stairway to our private massage rooms located on the 1st floor. The private rooms are nicely done, with an en-suite shower and powder room. We had very good masseuse and wished we had booked a longer treatment because before you know it, an hour zipped by so fast! Other friends sat for a foot reflexology and they too enjoyed the experience, even complimenting how comfortable the massage chairs they were on. Once you’re done, a warm herbal tea awaits you in the foyer for you to sip and enjoy. Price was very affordable considering the very exclusive experience. 10/10 will repeat this on our next trip...
