Overall review: Severely dated rooms for a hotel in this "star" category, slow and poor service, dirty and dingy rooms, not a good walkable area. I'm not sure why this hotel has so many good reviews. We had a pretty bad experience here. When we arrived, the room was clean, but the bathroom was disgusting. It was like someone forgot to clean the bathroom. The toilet seat was up and there was sh!t on the bottom of the seat and on the toilet bowl. The bathroom sink had food pieces stuck in it and the rim of the sink had tons of mold/mildew. Our shower door wouldn't close completely and it smelled really musty. We didn't have a full set of towels. We were so tired and just wanted to rest, so I literally cleaned the room myself with some travel wipes and called down for hand towels. They sent up more large bath towels. Then, the toilet stopped working. Every 3-5 flushes or so, the tank would stop filling with water so you couldn't flush it. The fill valve mechanism was clearly old and broken (I've fixed this issue in my own home and I understand basic plumbing) and needed to be replaced, not just fiddled with. But THREE times, that's exactly what happened. I called for maintenance and the guy clearly just reset it a little and it would break again, the same day. The final straw was that that 3rd time I asked for the toilet to be fixed and really tried to explain that the valve needed to be REPLACED, they sent the guy up while we were out of the day. When we came back, it had only been fiddled with again AND the guy clearly took a leak, with the seat down and left piss on the toilet seat!!! Unbelievable. On a more minor, but not ok note: there were also holes in our curtain, the TV is from the early 2000s and was dirty and also didn't work properly when we checked in. I had to ask twice for someone to come look at the TV and any requests like this took a long time. The guy finally came up and it took a while for him to figure it out (the cable connection was not working for some reason) , but even once it worked, it wasn't worth watching. The TV was so old. Even cheap(er) hotels we stayed in in Surat Thani and Chiang Mai had Smart TVs with Netflix. We ended up watching TV on our iPad. Small things like only one outlet next to the bed were also annoying and no USB outlets. After all of these issues, I finally had to go down and talk to the manager and they upgraded us to a 1-bedroom suite with a late check out for our departure day since we had an evening flight. I was disappointed that we only had one day of this upgrade, but I was really trying to give them a chance and didn't complain earlier. It was enough for what we needed in the moment and we were grateful to have a room that last day. Also set out dirty room svc dishes in the hallway one night around 9pm and they sat there until after 1pm the next day. Oh, almost forgot, we decided to hit the pool, which was pretty nice, but there were two teenage boys in a lounger next to us, smoking weed it was really annoying and not appropriate at all. The woman on the other side of us had a small child and there were other families with young kids. She asked a poolside employee to ask them to please stop and she nodded and said ok, and then walked right past them and said nothing. I get that there can be a language barrier, but it seemed the general attitude of the staff here was to just nod, smile, and do nothing. Not everything was bad, but this hotel has a beautiful lobby and the rooms just don't match. The room we were upgraded too was quite a but nicer, but still really dated and lots of the same issues. A couple good things: The spa was nice and pretty reasonable for hotel spa prices. The morning breakfast buffet was pretty good with a large variety of foods, but the tables were often a little dirty and the service wasn't great. This hotel really misses the mark in so many ways. I wouldn't recommend it and I wouldn't stay there again. There are lots of options in this neighborhood. Spend your money somewhere else.

Wonderful stay at this hotel. Overview: - Amazing staff. Super friendly and will go above and beyond to ensure your stay is perfect - Stayed in 1 bedroom suite. Clean and comfortable - Location is 10 mins walk to nearest sky train station - Breakfast selection is huge and plentiful - Zoom bar in the 40th floor is great but expensive (to be expected) - Hotel set back in from the main road - There is some construction work happening close by - Only 3 lifts Staff. From the moment I entered I felt very welcomed and valued as a guest. I was checked in by Scarlet and getting in a 9am I asked if there was a chance of an early check-in. I was given a welcome drink and asked to wait in the foyer and within an hour was given the keys to my room 4 hours early. Scarlet was friendly and very helpful to get this sorted for me. On subsequent days if she saw me she would ask how my day was going and remember who I was. This is what sets great staff apart. Also Golf who worked at the main door was super friendly and would always spend a few mins to talk with me each time I saw him. Skytrain. There is a shuttle but just walk it. It's 10mins and there is so much traffic on the road outside the hotel it's not worth it. Leave the hotel, turn left and just walk 10min straight ahead until you reach the main intersection and take the steps up to get to the station. Food and Drink. There is free infused water (different daily) at reception. The drinks at the bar are relatively expensive but that is true of any hotel. There is a 7/11 about 5-7 mins walk away (out hotel, turn left and it will be on your left). There are a number of street food vendors along the main road outside the hotel as well. Tours. You can book tours from reception, next to the concierge. They are open each day until approx 20:30. They are cheaper than booking from back in the UK. I did 2 tours through them and can highly recommend it. For the temples by the river, just use the skytrain and local ferry. Skytrain will cost around 40 bhat and local ferry is 13 or 15 bhat depending on the boat. Breakfast. It can get very busy so recommend if you can to go before 7:30. Plentiful choices of both Western and Eastern food. Lifts. Only 3 lifts so can be a wait sometimes. Could not see stairs from ground floor to the restaurant on the 2nd so you just need to wait for the lifts.

We stayed here with family while it was under Anatara management and we thought it was great even though there is a bit of walk to the closest BTS station (Chong Nosi). Coming back was a bit of a shock and shows how fall it has fallen since. It has definitely dropped a star. The first shocking feature was that the lobby café was undergoing renovation, with white hoarding taking you from reception to the lift lobby. During our time there, there didn’t seem to be any work happening. Our room lock didn’t accept our key card and we were told that the lock was defective. Other signs across the hotel indicated that maintenance was required: hotel supplies room doors that don’t close, outdoor wooden decking warping, closet doors that don’t close, leaking shower doors, finishing coming off taps. The staff was pretty good, but we had to call again for room supplies; toothbrushes and razors not supplied as default (which I can understand as an environmental initiative). Room make-up service was inconsistent; one day the bathroom floor mat wouldn’t be replaced, and then the hand towel weren’t another day. There was no towels for the swimming pool nor any staff manning the gym, but you could get towels there. The breakfast was disappointing but to be honest, there is so much good and cheap food outside that it really wasn’t a big issue for us, and nice to get a tea or coffee to start the day. Service one morning was pretty with dishes cleared almost as soon as we had finished the dish, but on the last day they seemed short-staffed and no one cleared away our dishes during the whole sitting. Not a big deal but certainly not 5-star service. By no means was it a disaster; we loved the big one bedroom suite we had, and there were plenty of food options between the hotel and BTS. There’s a great money exchanger by the BTS as well. The gym and (unheated) swimming pool were nice. It was pretty good value for what we paid, but I would be happy to try somewhere for the money with a better location.

**Review for JC Kevin Hotel: A Complete Disaster** My husband and I were unfortunate enough to stay at JC Kevin, and let me be clear: this is, without a doubt, the worst hotel experience we have ever had. The fact that they have the audacity to call themselves a 5-star hotel is beyond laughable—it's insulting. From the moment we entered our room, it was clear that cleanliness and maintenance are foreign concepts at this establishment. The sheets were not ironed, leaving the bed looking as though someone had just rolled out of it. The walls and carpets were so disgustingly stained that I felt like I needed a hazmat suit just to walk across the room. The bathroom was even more appalling. The tiles were scratched and worn, and the grout was so filthy and moldy that I couldn't bring myself to step on it without shoes. It was impossible to feel clean in such a revolting space. To top it all off, we came back to our room one evening to find a large lizard crawling around. Yes, a lizard. In what is supposed to be a "luxury" hotel. This was the final straw in what was already a nightmarish stay. The state of the furniture was nothing short of disgraceful. Every piece of wooden furniture was scratched, damaged, and clearly hadn't seen a dust cloth in weeks, if not months. The dining table was covered in stains and coffee rings, a glaring sign that basic cleaning protocols are completely ignored here. As if the horrendous state of the facilities wasn't enough, the staff were completely unhelpful and indifferent to our concerns. They clearly couldn't care less about their guests or the appalling conditions in their so-called hotel. JC Kevin should be ashamed to operate under the guise of a 5-star hotel. If there were an option to give a negative rating, this place would deserve a -5 stars, hands down. Avoid this disaster of a hotel at all costs—unless you want your vacation ruined.

I had high expectations with this hotel because it is supposedly a 5-star hotel. A good amount of people left reviews with high reviews. The first hotel my partner and I got stank, a plant growing from the sink, and the sink water not draining well. The hair dryer also doesn’t work. We asked to switch rooms and were greeted with a much worse situation but what made it “better” was the lesser strong smell. It’s obvious that they don’t keep the rooms maintained. They also don’t keep the rooms clean. I noticed this with the cups and spoons. It had stains which easily came off when I hand washed it myself. I used the cup but the next day, I noticed that they just put that cup back to place without cleaning it because my coffee stains in the side remained. Nothing gets cleaned, with so much stains and dusts collected on top. The sink faucet also are crooked and wobbly. When was this place last cared for? The water pressure is also non-existence. Turning the knobs doesn’t change anything and it had the smallest amount of water coming out. It took forever to clean my face or brush my teeth. The knob is also very moldy. Seriously? Is this even a 5 star hotel? If I wanted a 2-3 star hotel, I would’ve booked that instead. I will never stay here again. One star is a generous rating. It has potential if they cared about their hotel. The staffs don’t seem to care either, they probably don’t get paid enough to care.

Now I’m not one to review something badly out of spite but 4 hours after my initial check in I am bitterly disappointed. My wife and I finally get a weekend away for the first time in 3 years and I thought of treating us to a nice little 5 star experience that didn’t seem to break the bank. Well, 5 stars is an exaggeration to say the least. Once arrived we were greeted by English speaking staff, great. They checked us into our room… and the door was broken so we couldn’t get in. The staff assured us that everything should be fine until they came up and saw that the door could not be opened. They put us in a small room while they sorted out the issue. 3 hours later the issue still hadn’t been resolved, there weren’t any staff at the front desk for a good while either. The friendly staff worked rather slowly, not sure what room to put us in and took their time but eventually assured us that the room was finally in working order. On our way up the staff even joked saying “this hotel used to be 5 stars, but not anymore”. You’re not kidding. Once we get to our room and give the door a good couple of shoulder barges we finally got into our room and settled in after a rather frustrating experience. Oh and the tv didn’t work. Brilliant. I will not recommend or stay here ever again.
