The Social Complex of the ryup sultan I Mosque Was named after the Ebu Eyup elensar who took place in the encompassment of the Constantinopolis by the Umayyads and was martryized. After Aksemsettin, the master of Sultan Mehmed the conquerer, explored the place where this blessed person was buried, a tomb was built in the first place. Later a social complex was constituted with the addition of certain building dusters

In the center. the social complex consisted of a mosquera tomb,. medresa and double Turkish bath. The social complex has started to take my shape since 1459 Which is the construcion date of the mosque Afterthe conquest al sultans started to gird themselves with swords there After several restorations, the social complex has substahtially lost its originality in time. The fist mosque built has experienced a massive destruction in the earthquake in 1766 and in 1798 the Selim I made the mosque demolish completely and had it built again and opened to worship in October 24, 1800.

The entrance to the outer courtyard of the mosque is through two doors. In the outer courtyard a there is a public fountain with three windows this structure is called the sherbet house because of the tradition of pouring sherbet in bajram and speciani days inher courtyard is surrounded with a portico of 13 domes which stands on 12 pilars.

The mosque was built from limestone ly a team which was headed by Uzun Hasan Agha. It is built on a rectahgular plan and it has a protruding mihrab The sanctualy With a size of 26x1 1 m. is covered witha dome of 1750 m. diameter and 8 half domed portico besides The mosque with a marble minbar is galleried oh 3 sides except the mihrab side. I was blessed to visit this beautiful masjid twice once in 2024 and again in 2025 with my wife. The history about the man who rests within this Cami is more impressive than the actual Cami itself (the Cami is very peaceful and wonderful). A beautiful and peaceful place. The entire area is named after Hadhrat Abu Ayyub Al Ansari (r.a). When the prophet (S) made hijrah from Makkah to madinah the camel stopped at the house of Abu Ayyub (r.a) and that is where he was welcomed and stayed at the house of this great companion read the story if you can. Turkey is very blessed to have so many of the companions of the beloved prophet (S) resting in its soil and the Turks have kept there places in a respected way and preserved them with reverence and respect. There is a lot of history in Turkey. Both times I visited I felt safe and found the people kind and hard working. The two unique things I found about Turkey which IMO is unmatched in any other Muslim country 1. The Adhan absolutely wonderful and second to none, and number 2. The masaajid are open to everyone (regardless of faith) as long as you are respectful and dressed decently. The Turkish masaajid always caters for children and many have small outdoor play areas with slides and swings and Also family areas where families can sit down and relax perhaps have a cuppa or a snack. I highly recommend visiting the masaajid in Turkey especially the historic ones like Sultan Eyup, suleymaniye, Aya Sofia kebir Came, Nur Osmaniya, sultan Ahmet (blue mosque), And my favourite Camlica Came on the Asian side the largest...

Beautiful, spiritual energy in this place and indescribable peace - despite the throngs of worshippers visiting the mosque and mausoleum. If you want to truly feel connected to your spiritual side, visit this mosque. I felt this was more authentic of an experience than Blue Mosque. Take a minute to sit by the fountain or in the main courtyard, and soak in the surroundings. People will come up to you and offer lokum or sweets. The inner structure of the mosque is unique, one I haven’t seen before in my travels. Praying there felt peaceful. There was a cat taking a nap peacefully inside the mosque as worshippers continued to pray. The cool breeze flowing in, as you could see the green trees against the blue skies and bright blue skies. I did not feel like leaving. The mausoleum is small but houses sacred relics of Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh). Make sure to go up Pierre Lotti via cable car - there are long lines, with an hour wait on the weekend. The cable car ride barely lasted a minute. But the views from the top are incredible. I recommend getting a fresh brewed cup of cappuccino from the Pierre loti cafe - panoramic views from the top of the golden horn and very peaceful energy. Take a walk down from the steps, and you will pass through an open air graveyard. Not creepy at all, but peaceful and contemplative. Lastly, don’t forget to eat at Ensar restaurant. Their kavurma and kasar pide and the iskender teriyagi kepab is to die for. Best I’ve tasted.
