If you're like me and in search of an authentic Turkish dining experience, Istanbul might have left you feeling weary, hungry, and overwhelmed by the abundance of enticing yet ultimately empty promises. You've probably roamed through Sultanahmet or down Istiklal Street, skeptical of the "best Turkish meal" and "authentic Turkish kebap" claims on tourist menus, ready to settle for the most tempting option. But trust me, you've been looking in the wrong places. Somewhere on the outskirts of the historic Topkapi district, Hakan is crafting the experience you've been longing for. Hakan, affectionately called “THE kebap man" by my brother, is not only the kindest of hosts but also a master at preparing the most authentic shish kebap you'll ever have the pleasure of tasting. There's no fancy menu displayed here, just two straightforward options: chicken kebap or the "special." In truth, both choices are truly exceptional, and you won't need anything else. The beauty lies in the simplicity and authenticity that Hakan brings to every meal, leaving a lasting sense of joy with everyone who visits.
So, if you're anything like me, in search of that authentic Turkish culinary journey, let me leave you with this: the true taste of Turkey resides with Hakan in Topkapi. I'm grateful I discovered it, and I'm confident you'll cherish it just as much as I did on my quest for that genuine Turkish...

The owner is really nice. He will treat you as VIP guests. We were given a seat upstairs with a good view of the church and city walls. The salad, kebap and bread is really good. We even buy 2 more orders to take out. He even served us with Turkish tea.
The owner even accompany us on where we should walk back to our hotel coz we ride a taxi going to his resto.
The experience was amazing! I highly...
