Read moreWe went to Sirali Kebap for dinner this evening and we're taken straight to our seats by very welcoming wait staff. We were directed to their QR code for the English menu but explained neither of us had mobile data available so asked for a paper menu. As this was in Turkish only, they kindly got us onto their WiFi so we could see the full menu. We chose a couple of their signature cocktails which were main table side which was very impressive and a nice personal touch. Our main waiter, Sahin, was absolutely fantastic. He was so welcoming and helpful when it came to ordering and making his own recommendations to us. My wife is vegetarian and he provided some tips and pointers to some good vegetarian friendly dishes so she had plenty to choose from. Our food came quickly and tasted all amazing. We chose a desert to share, again recommended by Sahin, and it didn't disappoint! It was considerably larger than either of us expected but we still ate 3/4 of it and we're able to take the final piece away with us. We were given complementary Turkish tea and coffee to finish the meal before settling up. We didn't feel rushed or pressured at all at any time. The whole restaurant, especially Sahin, was very accommodating to us with the language barrier and I couldn't ask for more. Would highly recommend for the food, atmosphere and overall satisfaction. One additional note I'll make, this restaurant is reservation only and appears to only be able to be done by phone or possibly in person prior to dining. We got our hotel to book for us only a couple of hours before our booking time so it wasn't...
Read moreWe arrived for dinner relatively early thinking that the people eat late without reservation. It was about 19:45. They told us that they are fully booked but we can be accommodated until 20:00 until the next reservation. It was tight schedule but with efficient service, we felt that we can finish our dinner and not inconvenience the next folks. It was a mistake. We were assigned a water named Mehmet. During the meze selection he assisted and no matter how much we selected (5-6 dishes) he would push for more. So, his pushiness was a turn off from get go. We received mezes, but no bread. I had to express my discontent to receive bread. While we were conscious about occupying the 20:00 reservation, we expected the food to arrive promptly. We had to wait for the main dishes for a long time so that I had to remind Mehmet of our order a number of times. It was a disorganized and chaotic setting as the restaurant greeters were more focused on bringing in more people than providing service to them. We had to ask for water a number of times. Mehmet was not effective at all, There were number of ushers around crowding up the space but not providing and value to the service. The desert order fell into the cracks as well .I was happy to leave the place as one of the greeters heard my complaint and wanted to sooth the situation by offering me coffee acknowledging the horrible service we experienced. The offer of coffee added insult to the injury. There is a new restaurant near this place caled SIRA. From now on, I will be going there hoping better value...
