I recently visited Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi and was very surprised by the lack of clear information provided at the entrance. There were no signs about the dress code at the beginning of the building, only a small sign near the ticket counter. I wore long jeans, a white top, and a long translucent sleeve cover, which I thought was appropriate. However, after purchasing tickets for five people, the staff member told me I could not enter because of the dress code.

What was disappointing is that this was only mentioned after paying, and the staff did not explain anything beforehand. It felt like the priority was selling tickets rather than informing visitors. The staff simply told me to “ask for a scarf” without proper guidance. Even worse, they did not offer to refund the tickets, which made me feel scammed. For such a well-known cultural landmark, the level of visitor information was extremely poor.

There are many places in the world that require a dress code, but they provide disposable long garments for visitors. I am truly surprised that in a place like the UAE—with its wealth, progress, and reputation for hospitality—such a simple solution was not offered. It would not take away from the prestige or luxury of Qasr Al Watan, but instead enhance the visitor experience.

I also noticed an inconsistency: some men were allowed entry wearing shorts and some women in sleeveless tops, while I was stopped for my outfit. This difference in treatment was confusing and unfair.

Another issue was the lack of proper communication from the staff. There were many staff members present, but unfortunately none of them provided clear instructions or guidance. At the very least, Qasr Al Watan should assign one staff member to explain dress code and entry requirements, or install a large screen at the entrance to show visitors what is expected before they buy tickets or approach the building.

On top of all this, I was shocked that the palace was not very clean, which is unacceptable for such a famous and highly promoted attraction.

I understand and respect that this is a country with cultural and religious values, including modest dress. However, small things like this can strongly influence how visitors see and remember their experience. This was my first time visiting the UAE, and unfortunately, it left me feeling disappointed rather...
