Duthie Park in Aberdeen is a beautiful and well-maintained park that offers a great place to relax and unwind in the city. The park is easily accessible and is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike.
One of the highlights of Duthie Park is the beautiful Victorian greenhouse, which is home to a range of exotic plants and flowers. The greenhouse is well worth a visit, and it's a great place to take some stunning photos.
The park also features a large pond, which is home to a variety of ducks and swans. There are also several playgrounds for children, as well as a boating pond and a miniature train that runs through the park.
The gardens in Duthie Park are meticulously maintained, with beautiful flower displays and manicured lawns. The park is also home to several sculptures and monuments, including a tribute to the famous Aberdonian musician, Sir James Burnett.
Overall, Duthie Park is a fantastic place to spend an afternoon in Aberdeen. It's a beautiful and tranquil oasis in the heart of the city, and it's a great place to relax and enjoy some fresh air. Whether you're visiting with family or friends, or simply looking for a peaceful place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, Duthie Park is definitely...
Read moreBeautiful park, well looked after and great to see it being used and enjoyed by so many. There is a large grassy area in the centre and in the middle a bandstand that was once located in Union Terrace Gardens in the city centre. Around the grass are smooth, wide pathways so totally accessible for everyone. Two main play areas for children at each entrance to the park along with two boating ponds that I hope one day will see the pedalos and canoes that I remember from when I was a kid. All the grass and flowerbeds are beautifully well maintained. There is a large sit in or takeaway cafe with hot and cold food and drink and a huge choice of cakes and snacks. Cafe has lots of seating indoors and out. The winter gardens is always great to explore with a range of hothouse areas with exotic and unique plants. Parking available from Riverside Drive and Polmuir Road with all the surrounding streets free to park on. I say this as it angers me to see drivers too lazy to walk and instead arrogantly drive up onto the grass to park their car caring not for the damage to flowers or grass. This park is immaculate, no litter or dog mess so great to see the respect mostly everyone treats...
Read moreThis park received high recommendations when I asked people what I should see in Aberdeen, so I suppose I was expecting a little more. From the centre of town, I had to walk for about a half hour through rather labyrinthian and convoluted routes to reach the park. The sun shone freely and joyously on the damp grass, and I appreciated the towering and majestic columns and monuments, but I suppose I was expecting something more unique than simply a large swath of pleasant green space. I did not have the time to examine the botanical gardens, which I hear are lovely and exuberant, but what I saw were large groups of very energetic and happy kids racing through the park, playing together on a pleasant sunny day in February. Though I did not dislike the park, and I understand why it was busy on a sunny Sunday afternoon, I did not think it was worth walking that far to reach. It appears to be a lovely place for families, and I am sure that I would visit this park frequently if I lived close to it, but it was not the compelling tourist attraction I thought...
