A fabulous way to spend an afternoon (or a morning if you are a morning person) in Aberdeen. This Gin masterclass was a birthday treat and one of the best I have ever received. I did not exactly know what to expect so I would not want to spoil it for someone else but let’s say that if you are a gin lover this is definitely for you. Don & Alan, the founders of Aberdeen city Gin distillery have for sure polished their masterclass: there is no rest for one’s curiosity and enthusiasm. While your learn about spirits, gin, the distilleries in Aberdeen and the shire, visit the facility, get a glimpse of the process and have a very generous taste of the house production, you understand you are going to professionally make your own gin! and this is a huge responsibility! All those spices, flowers, herbs... It is a very good thing that Alan & Don guide you through your choices to help materialise one of your dreams in a bottle you will bring home, named, labelled and sealed. The temptation is too big to put too much! Then, once home starts another one which is : wait for the aromas to settle and apparently it...

Phenomenal experience! My girlfriend and I were visiting from the US and thought this would be an exciting way to spend our Saturday afternoon. We were blown away to say the least. We showed up 15 minutes early and Alan and Dan were right there to greet us and get to know us. They immediately brought us double Gin & Tonics and begin learning about our tastes for Gin and other spirits. Honestly the two nicest people we’ve met our entire week in Aberdeen. Anyways, you begin to learn all about Gin and the flavors that that can enhance the profile of the drink. Throughout the class you sample many different Gin’s to learn your preference and build your own recipe. Building your recipe is very exciting while Alan is walking you through the process and Dan is giving advice and probably handing you another drink. They are truly masters of their craft and made this a memorable experience for both of us. I would highly recommend viewing their selection of Gins afterwards as they made great souvenirs for our family...

Brilliant experience at City of Aberdeen Distillery My girlfriend and I had a fantastic time at the City of Aberdeen Distillery Gin School - it was such a fun, hands-on, and genuinely memorable experience.

Dan and Alan were brilliant hosts: friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. They created a relaxed and welcoming environment while guiding us through the gin-making process with just the right balance of fun and detail.

Lyla really enjoyed choosing all of her botanicals and crafting a flavour profile that was totally her own, while I was fascinated by the technical side of distilling and loved getting hands-on with the equipment - especially when it came to bottling our own creations!

Lads, we will be back, very soon.

We left with two completely unique gins, some new knowledge, and big smiles on our faces. Couldn't recommend it more - it's an ideal day out whether you're a gin enthusiast or just looking for something a bit different to do...

My wife and I toured Scotland in September-October 2021, and spent two days in Aberdeen. We saw the City of Aberdeen Distillery advertised, and decided to call in. We're glad we did! The distillery is small, set in a railway arch, with two friends running it. One makes the gin, the other runs the shop (etc.). We were welcomed, and offered samples of 3-4 gins. We love gin, so this was great. Even though we had arrived impromptu, and certainly not on "a tour", we were shown around, and the gin manufacturing process described. We loved the bramble gin, and bought a bottle (since returning home, we have ordered two more by mail order). Well worth your visit if in the area. Booking ahead might be a better choice than just rocking up as we did.
