I don’t know why it’s called black sands as it is a lovely small beach with some golden sand, stones and rocks. The vista is wonderful over the harbour and Inchcolm Abbey. Edinburgh and other features are in the distance. Be aware that parking here is very restricted so if visiting it’s best to park somewhere else and walk down. Btw there are plenty of benches to take a rest when you get here, I’m sitting on one right now typing this review!

Amazing wee shellstone beach with great swimming and views of the harbour, bridges and Edinburgh. Great wee walk. Parking isn’t good. Residential area. Please do not block in as emergency services need access the the harbour wall at all times.

Beautiful beach not as popular as Silver Sands but equally spectacular. Favourite place of local people for dog walks. I recommend to walk between both of the beaches as views are one of a kind.

A wee beautiful beach with darker sand than its antithesis and larger sister, Silver Sands, which is about a kilometer north of it. Many wild swimmers swim the one kilometer north past the small neuk and into Silver Sands. The beach is a pleasant view and dip in its own right though. The crowds always gather to praise the conquering heroes as they swim in like they just finished in the top 3 of the Boston Marathon. Easy...

I love the beach! I've been going since I was younger. It's a lovely beach with nice views. Today, the day I went, I would give it a 3 star because of how busy it was as it was very sunny! however normally it would be 4 stars! Keep in mind that in the summer when it is hot you will not be on your own there! You can have a nice dip or have walk in such a beautiful place. Not quite the Hebrides but enjoyable...
