Wonderful new proprietors been running pub over a year now, revitalised venue after former declining operations!!!! Kitchen now Open Wed-Sun 12noon till 8pm, last orders 1930hrs, an Great menu options, as well as specials for seasonal and local events.

Good selection of Beers, Lagers, frequently changing Real Ales, Good selection of Alcohol Free options as well, Wonderful spirits, Mixers, Cocktails freshly made and Wines also available. Braw cosy open hearth Log Fire and Lounge/Function Room available for hosting various events with its own Bar Area, Pool Table, Dart Board, Large Screen TV as well as regular events of Dominoes and Poker games. Individual options for accompanying Buffets just ask staff.

Not good. In the pub for at least 30 mins before we even got a drink - despite informing/ asking staff if we could eat outside. No menu, no service. Eventually had to go and check if we needed to order at the bar! Once ordered food arrived pretty quickly, and it was tasty, but portions for main course bore a striking resemblance to starter. Very confused by the protocol here as one table told they would need to order at bar; next one had waiter taking orders at table. Also upset by smokers on pavement - plenty of signs asking smokers to refrain in this area, but not heeded. Even more confused by the fact that the rear beer garden would be a much nicer area to eat, leaving the front area available for smokers, but not the case, although full marks for actually offering an outside area to be smoke free. Disappointed that they ran out of our particular gin after 2 drinks as well. Value for money? Perhaps not. Friendly staff? Yes, but clearly to busy to stay on top...

The bar staff are very nice and friendly- happy to chat away about any old thing. Quite an unusual selection of drinks with some notable absenteeism- Tennents & Guinness for example).
